Since 2008, nearly every state moved right in both presidential and state politics

So it would seem that America has been moving more to the right for almost a decade!

Two states, California and Arizona, grew more Democratic on both counts. Seven others split, mostly thanks to five that voted more heavily Democratic in the presidential race (like Georgia, Utah and Texas). Every other state, 40 of them, became more Republican. (This data excludes Nebraska, which has a nonpartisan legislature.)

No of this surprises me much. Pretty much due to Obama's failed policies.

How will the left counter this?

Re-electing people like Palosi won't help.

The right has stayed basically where they are since the 80's.
The left has moved very far to the left.

I think people as a whole have moved to the Left, but at a much lower pace, so they can't relate to Dems. They would relate to the 80's and 90's Dems.

Democrat voting pockets are so condensed, they may never gain power again for 20 years.

The failures and breakdowns have far outweighed any possible "successes".

The Democrat Party has been outed for their hypocrisies and too many people know it.

All they have left now is more BS propaganda campaigns.

By calling their opposition.

Racists,rapists,xenophobes,Russian Spies, and ever other pejorative they can think of.

And when that doesn't work.

They'll make illegal foreign nationals instant citizens to get back in to power.

Then.

Rinse, and Repeat.

Americans have been becoming more commercialistic, apathetic, selfish and poorly educated for decades. Add on top of that Republican gerrymandering, voter suppression, corporate campaign spending, disinformation and propaganda for decades and It shouldn't be surprising that they have been winning.

Now that they've pissed off most minorities, intelligent people and women they should lose a lot of seats the next time around, barring some kind of nationwide voting suppression, which wouldn't surprise me at all.

Professors are overwhelmingly liberal. Do universities need to change hiring practices?

I'm sick and tired of paying for overpaid, no-good CEO's, tax cheating corporations, lobbyists and consultants with my tax money. Too bad the Republicans love giving all our money away in corporate welfare.

Then one would think you'd be a fan of Trump's no lobbyist policies and anti-bailout stances. If you consider the insurance industry, Big Pharma, and alternative energy corps like Solyndra in your equation, the Dems sure love them some corporate welfare, too!

Perfect example of why 40 states turned to the right. No room for discussion or compromise. Accusations of impropriety and illegal activity. You even worked in a poorly veiled insult. There is no reason to work with behavior like this.
