I want to be left alone.

I don't want government bothering me with new taxes, new demands. I don't want my government to dictate what is and isn't acceptable in society.

For their track record alone, I'm far more accepting of anyone and every one than government has been.

But government tries to socially condition people to hate or agree or march against whatever it is government is pissed at, at any given time.

I like having the freedom to screw up. I like having the freedom to correct my own mistakes.

I agree with you. But at the same time, I don't believe the government will ever take LESS money from us. No matter who is elected or who we vote for. Taxes are a one way street

So why not put a chain on the beast and at least try to force it to work to our advantage. I'm all for less government intrusion in every part of my life, but then again, not everyone is like me. Some people that are down and out may need help, and I believe the government we're born paying into should be there to help, if needed.

But for all of us that don't need it, there should be an option to opt out of being forced to pay for things we as individuals don't need.

So I'm not sure what you would label me. That being said, I'm not into labels either.

That's where my thought process originates from as well - On a personal level, I am against abortion. I ensured that I married a wife who believes it's not okay as well. On the other hand, I don't believe it's my place to dictate what others do - It is a medically valid procedure, and freedom of privacy means I don't need to dig into their personal life and ask them why they are doing it.

On the other hand, I can choose to be pro-legislation and policy that would reduce the number of this thing I do not like, in a fair way.

Is a high wire act still as scary if there is a safety net underneath?

Is it risk-taking if you have a safety net and therefore won't lose anything if you start a business?

I think we've grown too complacent in our lives. We've gotten too comfortable with our safety nets.

There is no greater achievement than doing it without a net. The greater the risks, the greater the rewards.

Just my musings.

Now I'm going to go plan a jewel heist.

Depends if you're afraid of falling or afraid of heights.

Life is risk. We live in a world of impending disasters from the moment we step out of bed.

Where do you draw the line?

I completely missed this thread while I made a new one that kind of contradicts this one in a funny way.

But I'll join in and sing kumbuya with everybody.

Everyone should have the freedom to draw their own line.

Instead of having government draw it for them.

Yep. But shouldn't the people who want or need someone else to draw the line for them be able to do that as well?

Call it free market democracy.

How about if we all hold hands and hold Trump to his "promise" to get us away from nation toppling?

I think most of us can agree on that.

As much as he wants to be liked, can you imagine if he thought he could please us common folk from Left, Right, and In Between? I think he would really bust ass to do it under those conditions.

I post this around some, but it never seems to gain traction and I can't figure out why.

Kumbayah!!
