All this over a photograph?

I have to say, I find all this somewhat ridiculous. Image manipulation techniques being what they are these days, I have a hard time understanding why any photographic or videographic evidence for ANYTHING is being taken with anything other than a dumper truck full of salt. Thanks to hoaxers over the years just getting better and better at fooling people, there is really very little value in any such thing. Forensic evidence is where its really at.

honestly tho the story here is the 'all this' part rather than the photo....
4chan is dumpster fire soup, ten million trolls spiralling in gleeful perpetual chaos.
anything that gives the entire site pause must be at least interesting.

i can't really bring anything to this thread but i'm commenting anyway so i can keep up to date with the whole dramatic thing

Nailed it. Photographic examples are no longer acceptable forms of evidence in my mind, if they ever were. It's way too easy to manipulate things. I don't think having a photo lends credence one way or the other. Essentially, it's a push.

While the story is definitely interesting, I don't think photographs of any sort constitute particularly compelling evidence nowadays.

Does "the government" control what is deleted on 4chan?
Who is doing the deletions?
Private citizens?

There was even a conspiracy about the airplane (stored at Roswell) being the real reason why the thread was shut down. Truthers started a rumor of that being the airplane used in the 9/11 attacks .... I wasted a couple of hours on that rabbit hole.

From what I'm reading, the original pic was something similar to that.
That pic however was created to pose as an example of the original.
I just sifted through a lot of garbage on 4chan and the closest I could find to the original was a very pixelated image, similar to the pic you posted.

Is it anything legit? Highly doubtful.

Reminds me of some creepypasta type of story.

I can see this pick becoming memed to the degree the slender man creepy pasta stuff did. So many people obsessing over it that the subconscious collective starts driving sightings and copycats all over lol
