Obama lawyers team up to fight Trump

Top lawyers from Barack Obama’s White House are launching a group aimed at keeping President Trump from breaking ethics rules.

United to Protect Democracy has already built a $1.5 million operating budget and hired five staffers, a number it expects to double soon, Politico reported Thursday.

“When people hear concerns about democracies declining into authoritarianism, they expect that moment to come in a singular thunderclap where everyone can see that this is the time,” said Ian Bassin, the organization's leader.

On the surface this looks like a great thing. As always, there's got to be a lot more to this than what it appears to be at first glance.

My guess is that Obama's lawyers will be protecting Obama's legacy and agenda in court more than protecting democracy. Only time will tell.

One thing is certain at this point. This is a major change in American politics. Anyone remember the following?

Those lawyers aren't going to "protect ethics rules" they're on a mission to dig up dirt on Trump.

Must be hard to find some if they got those power houses on the case.

Lawyers preserving ethics, thats a laugh. They'll make stuff up if they can't find any.

The executive, legislative and judicial branches been covering for each other or looking the other way for decades.

Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.

I wonder if this would include the "ethics" involved in Obama's last minute 400 million dollar contract to Somalia to a company that has never done the work before... ignoring another company that has done the work before and was half the cost.

Somehow the left, the "Democrats" - have real issues in dealing with democracy. In normal world they would have long time past left the campaign mode and rhetorics, and agreed to work with the elect government to bring the nation forward.

But no.

Funded by Soros, his minions together with comrades from the Party of good old KKK, slavery and Goldwater segregation - they want to render revolution to USA, and reduce it to under Socialist Dictatorship.

This is the only way I see how their current agenda can be interpreted.

I wonder if theses lawyers (spits) would be mounting a fight against an African-American guy that was exactly the same as Trump in every other way if he was president.

Perhaps they'll review Obamas drone attacks as well...

Taking it from a president that ruled our nation 8 years on his mighty pen, this nothing but hypocritical, hilarious and actually his attitude looks nefarious as hell.

Obama is a frog, a fraud and should go back and hide under a rock where his presidency belong or move to the middle east.

Actually, it's probably just a catchy title that has nothing to do with what is actually in the title... like the Patriot Act.

From what I can tell, Obama doesn't have anything to do with this. It is former lawyers and staff that may have once worked for Obama during his presidency.

I would expect that you would be all-for holding our politicians accountable and keeping an eye on them. This is not much different than what Judicial Watch did, except these lawyers are not Right Wing nuts.

The Frog needs to be put on the spot light, he got this nation in a mess, I can not wait to see if he ever shows his face in condemnation of the Trump administration.

But don't you remember the King OompaLoompa can do whatever he wants. Speak against him he will sue you. Reality is what he says it is as in it was Hillary who questioned Obamas birth certificate not Lord Trumpington. He can even change the Constitution as he sees fit because he is President. How dare you question the President (unless he's a democrat) then it's ok?
