I have fortunately seen these formations quite a few times in my life, but never this defined and symmetrical.
Astounding image, cloud formations like this never cease to impress me!

I suppose they are quite rare, very interesting.

Kelvin Helmhotz clouds – also called billow clouds – form when two different layers of air in our atmosphere are moving at different speeds.


Apparently they can be found on Saturn and Jupiter as well.
