Chirp, love the gifs! I love your beach scene too! I noticed the birdie footprints, feathers and the books too. Oh, and the wine glass tipped over!

God how I miss the ocean! Maybe I'll get to see it this year.

Jess, Love the coffee with the hearts in it! I'm glad you were here to keep our early birds company.
Hope your day is going well.

Skiddy, good thing your Mom caught Suzie or she could have got electrocuted. You guys will have to keep a good eye on that girl. Do they sell any products that would deter her from chewing on certain objects? They sell stuff for ferrets that taste bitter. I'm sure they have something for dogs.

Hunter, Have fun at the gym! Makes me tired and sore just thinking about it. LOL

Eilasvaleleyn, So great to see you Sweetie! Hell, if you remember someone special from your child hood, just look them up. Maybe they are thinking of you as well. I wouldn't say you are a pedophile, no. I would think you have special memories of someone you knew and are wondering how they are and what they might be like today. I hope you visit us more often. I remember opening one of the sheds with one of your poems, or poetic verse. It was so amazing!!!!

It's been a while since we have had anyone making a story entry. I blame myself as well for slacking. This is a thread where we had to ask special permission so that we could chat and also tell stories. Just a friendly reminder. Yes, I reminded myself as well. I said, "Self, you must make a story entry."

I'll eventually be doing some laundry and making a pot roast in the crock pot. Need more coffee for motivation though. It might be a while yet. LOL

Without Syx, I miss the dragon pics. Here is my dragon who now resides in my kitchen of all places on top of my fridge. LOL

I fully intend to visit this year (very soon) as well, if not move there

Today I went to a 'celebration of life' for one of the folks that we support (where I work) it was his birthday today and his mother had refrained from a service when he had passed on in November. He had been with us since 2008. Anyway, it was a fabulous party with sunny/blue skies and there must have been 50 bouquets used on the tables and at the end were given to each of us 'employees' (friends really) to bring home. I wanted to share mine with you all. They smell so sweet and of Spring.

I'm sorry that I don't add to your story, I'm more of a posting silly pictures kind of bird

Hope all is well with all (((hugs)))

*I DO want you all to know that I follow along and enjoy thoroughly. I'm usually a silent starrer (except for those of you that I've Pmd LOL).
I wanted the writers (and everyone in the Shed, really) to know that I appreciate you

Hey Night & Thelma,
Sorry I'm in a bad place right now and really having a hard time putting sentences together.
Can't even do acronyms, total brain fog/stress/bah! argh! ....ellipsis attack...

I'm lurking and have tried to bust into a couple of other threads, but I'm also getting lost reading long threads and then losing my train of thought.

So anyways, "Hi!!"

Hey Louise!!!
((hugs))

NO worries! I get it. I think that...ellipsis thing...it may be going around

Donuts? Have you tried donuts?

I'm goin' the booze route myself.

(I have no idea what that is but, it's pretty and I want one)
Tequila sunrise maybe?

Hmmm...could be a Singapore Sling?
I think I used to like those.

I just had an idea while I was here...must have been the...ellipsis attack...I got the itch to write, lol.

Was thinking about a funny true story, almost a true confession. I thought, "that would make a cool story for a thread", but then I thought, "there already IS a thread for funny stories, right here"...so...
if I start, would anyone else be interested in sharing their own 'true confession' in a story...in The Shed?

I'm going to start working on it now and if I think it's not too awful, will post it in colour.

Hello Shedisans! Sorry for my absence, but I'm back for about an hour or so before I head out for the evening.

Hi Chirp!
IIRC from my misspent youth, a Tequila Sunrise was tequila, orange juice, and grenadine. I could be wrong, however. That looks a little like a Sea Breeze - vodka, cranberry juice, (sometimes with grapefruit juice), and a lime wedge.

Hi Jacy! I'll have to think about the true story/true confession. Hm, might have to sip some coffee. Shepherd is SLEEPY this afternoon.

Question to Shedfolk - I was thinking, based on suggestions from a couple folks, that I might move the story I've been posting to its own thread. What does the Shed think?

Hey Shep!
Sorry, been busy confessing, lol.

Regarding moving your story, I can't see an issue...but that's just me.
Many of the Shed writers also write outside of this thread, and I'm sure it would be fine for you to link the updates in here. It won't stop me from reading and if it makes it easier for you to manage, then why not?

Well, that was my main idea behind it, was management. It's now spread across 4 different Sheds, and I realized that the URLs I post at the top of each entry don't actually take someone to the right post, just the right page. I think it would be easier for folks if it was all in a single thread.

Out of respect to Night Star, I would probably wait to talk to her about it...but then again, that's just me.

I really can't see a problem though. We can still praise your pontificating here.

I've shelved the confession in notepad for now.
For some weird reason I'm totally anxious about putting myself out there right now. Anything personal, is getting locked down and I'm only up for silly chit-chat.
That's why I haven't been participating here much...I guess I'm sitting behind my 'Wall'...or perhaps it's just good ole writer's block.

Today's episode: The Price of a Clean Kir

Undeterred, she pressed on. “But these others. No whip – or scourge – made those. Three lines, perfectly parallel. And they on your arms, and sides too, not just your back like a whipping.”

He gave up trying to keep anything back. Distantly, he said, “Rochfendre have three claws on their forelimbs.” Her eyes widened again as he looked her direction. “I was the lucky one. They entertained themselves on the others first,” he said bitterly. The cross-shaped scar on his belly burned at the memory.

Her manner had softened somewhat. “I don’t need your kir to know how you got the rest of these.” Her voice was gentler now, although he thought he detected something else in her tone also. Disgust? Revulsion? She waited, patiently. Through the strands of his hair, he could make out her dark eyes glancing at his from time to time.

“I was eleven the first time. Father was strict, but it was Mother that usually ordered it.” He paused. She nodded slowly, as if she had expected that. For some reason, it made him more comfortable.

“They didn’t want to Compel me. Father reasoned that the Bastion might resist giving me title of High Defender if my kir was too tarnished. Mother is one of those women who doesn't trust the kir fully. She thinks men need 'real discipline', she calls it. Plus she needed my kir clean so they could use my marriage to forge an alliance that would strengthen the House. You know how it works. So, instead, to discipline, they had me, well, you can see.” He waved at his back vaguely. “It wasn’t that bad. She didn’t even do it herself, not usually. She made Father do it, or Lady Silnae. Mother did administer it once, when she was really angry, but it got out of hand and Father intervened. She gave him a Correction every day for a week after that. He wouldn’t tell me but I saw his kir.”

That was so long ago. His Father had avoided him that week, really had stayed out of sight of everyone. Mother said he was ill, but Gaalen knew her better. She was a hard woman.

“The worst one was when I was sixteen and on leave from the Bastion. Father caught me with a daughter of one of my mother’s liegewomen. He used the scourge, that time. He didn’t even ask Mother’s permission, but she approved when she found out, of course. She sent for the Meioshi to heal me so she could have Father do it again. I had threatened the future of the House, and Mother’s House is more important to her than anything else.”

Meioshi Aestad had protested briefly, but complied. Just after that he left the estate, and Gaalen had never seen him again.

The Seeress looked away from him, and silence stretched. He wondered what she thought of him now. Now that she knew. He thought for a moment she had registered disapproval, perhaps at the fact that he had needed to be beaten so much as a child. He felt dirty. She was so austere and pristine, in her manner and elegance. A small voice inside his head worried and railed at him for defiling her always perfectly white Seeress’s robes and delicate hands with his shameful blood.

Only a few others knew the truth of it. Kaena, Bryn, Taarvaes. Gesaert knew too. It had been Gesaert who comforted him after his first whipping; his older brother had treated his wounds after the scourge, too. Gesaert knew what it was like to be a boy at Braeghe Estate.

Chirp, what a lovely celebration of life you attended! The flowers are beautiful! When my Best friend's Mom passed away recently, instead of flowers at the funeral, they requested that people plant flowers in their homes or wherever. Her Mother was known for her breath taking gardens.

Jacy, hello Sweetie! Sounds like depression. You need a good diversion like hanging out with your friends here, reading in other threads or hanging out at youtube watching whatever catches your fancy. I have days like you. I have had many. Surprisingly, the last few days I feel great. I have to get my laundry into the dryer. Just threw my pot roast into the crockpot and have some other things to do, but I'm always checking in here. Hugs!

Shep Hun, you would get more attention if your story had a thread of its own and you deserve the attention. Don't worry about the shed. Just be sure to leave us a link.

I guess I will have to bore people with my simple story lines. Sometimes I get bored yet feel like writing. so...we'll see what happens. It seems all our writers or busy these days or posting elsewhere. I don't blame folks for that.

Ugh...you got me.
I am never quite sure how to pronounce "licentiousness' so I basically don't ever say it. (or write it) (or use it EVER)

Do you ever notice with your new abstract word, that soon after mentioning (or even noticing) it...suddenly it pops up a few times? That happened with me with "conundrum"...3 times in 1 day, and one of those was in a thread here.

I just picked up "facetious" and then watched a random (but excellent!) movie last night, "The Sunset Limited"...and Tommy Lee Jones say's "facetious" twice! The movie itself was a huge synchronicity for me, after spending yesterday reading some of the current contest stories (journey to the afterlife)...and also reading another thread here about life/death, etc.

Does that happen to you?

Shep, great entry as always! Go ahead my dear Shep and make that story thread. If you make it, we will show up. Like I said before, just please leave a link here because I tend to miss things.

Sorry hunny, we seem to keep missing each other here.

I can picture us both though...you jumping when the dryer buzzer goes off, and me doing the same here with my oven timer, lol. (and we like to talk so tough in the man cave thread, hahaha...ellipsis!!...)

Thank you but I'm pretty sure it's not "depression" because I know what I'm unhappy about, just don't know how to do anything about any of it. (for now) It's frustration for sure.
But you're right, being here and keeping my mind distracted is a big help, so thank you!
*hugs*
