It seems nobody actually read the article. It doesn't say that white men can't attend. It only says that only white privileged males are not in danger.

I reckon there is some draw to being the responsible adult in every situation, the one who's blamed when something goes wrong, the one who is first turned to whenever something needs bought, paid for, or fixed, the only person who society hasn't provided a list of "acceptable" excuses to to deflect attention away from personal failures and bad choices... it's similar to being "Dad" only without the fringe benefits of productive, wild sex preceding the title and without there being any illusion of choice in the situation.
