How did I know this thread would be about a person of color? This is how it starts.

It was something police weren't expecting to hear. "What they found out is that the family is from Saudi Arabia and they said that this is culturally acceptable for them -- it's normal."

And the police believed them? What dumb cops. Why special treatment - only some of the laws apply to some of the people?

it was night time. So this is about an unattended child.

You do realize that there are times of the year where 11pm at night can still kill when locked in a car due to heat. Yes I know this is not the correct time of year and/or geographical location. But say you do that in AZ in the middle of summer. 11pm it can still be 105+ out there. That is still a very high temp to leave any being locked in a car.

if the parents were black they would have been arrested.

part of the thug culture is to commit crimes so maybe thugs shouldn`t be arrested for any crimes they commit.

when the police try to prove that they aren`t racist by allowing people to commit crimes, then you know that PC hasn`t gotten way out of control.

Sure, there are times and places where it's hot at night.
But, like you say those elements weren't in play.

The issue in this case, in my opinion, was that the child was unattended.
That's illegal, but why is that illegal? Is it because a stranger could do harm to an unattended child?
And if that's the case, that an unattended child can come to harm in a locked car, at night. What "culture" is the real problem here?

My problem is police culture- because if I had done that, no matter what, I'd be in prison and my children would belong to the state.

Because I'm a white middle aged guy, and the laws actually apply to me- even if I'm ignorant of them.
Which I am, most of the time... because as a nation we have more laws than people.

No officer, i am not trespassing on my neighbor's land. I am invoking manifest destiny and claiming it as my own. You see, i am caucasion of european decent, stealing land is a traditional part of my culture.

i don't really think that it could be called police culture, it's more likely the other PC you know politically correct. most police chiefs job have a political aspect to them.

It is still an active investigation though until they figure out how PC they need to be so as to avoid protests, Government overview, and all the other bad stuff that seems to go down that road.

Is it right? I don't know. Lets see what the investigation turns up. Makes the mind go wild speculating what might turn up, since the investigation allows the law to look very closely at this family. Maybe nothing.
