So the purpose was to celebrate their revolution.. However there were some bravado from President Hassan Rouhani as he basically said anyone who speaks to us had better speak with respect for we are united and one nation...Paraphrase on my part..

Rouhani warned “all should know now they have to speak with the language of respect and praise in front of the Iranian nation.”

“The nation will respond incisively in the face of threats…The one who proceeds to threaten our nation and Armed Forces should know that our nation is united and vigilant, and will stand up to ill-wishers.”

The Islamic Revolution regained Iran’s sovereign independence. It won’t surrender it to America or anyone else.

Brave words to stir the troops ? Kinda like Saddam and the Iraqis which did not work out to well....for either side IMO.

There is No Problem with that , but to try and Mask an Idealogy with Another is just Pure Deception .

Not sure they're masking anything rather taking elements that work , mix and match.

They Do Not Rule , but Are Ruled

The same could be said of many Democracies , we have a choice of leadership but little to no say in the direction of travel.

Having said that an exception was made last year when we in the UK did get to decide the direction we will head in the form of the Brexit referendum although that was more about a weak leader trying to unite his party than Democratic desire.

If a Democracy was truly democratic the people would get a say in all major decisions.

Is England Really a True Democracy then when it is Also Co Ruled by a Crown ? I have heard that the Peoples Brexit Vote Results are being Challenged by Members of their Own Government . Outside of the United States , do Any True Democracies Even Exist Anymore ?

I tend to Disagree , Noncompliance of Constitutional Laws by Elected Officials is a Crime . The Rules of Our System have Not Changed , Only the Actions of Elected Officials who Abuse the Power Invested to them by the People have . Our Democracy is being Abused , but it Still Exists .

To some of you guy’s democracy is “one size, fits for all” and it should be American style… that’s laughable.

Different cultures, different understandings, different wishes and that alone makes us what we are.... HUMANS, besides that’s why we have MIGRATIONS, right.?

The Crown has no real power , they are a figurehead for the country with no Constitutional authority.
They are supposed to be politically neutral and not supposed to express an opinion either way.

I'm not sure the United States is any more democratic than we are , you vote for your leader then enjoy or endure the ride for 4 years.

I think the media have proved time and again they have there own narrative to spin.

I think the real truth is somewhere in the middle.

Sure Iranians have very good reason to hate the USA, so yes there is going to be those with "death to America" signs .
On the flip side I think the media is going to be over hyper that aspect.

All they can come up with is the "death to America" slogan and the falg burning.
Take a look at the newest NYT article about the 22bahman celebrations. It posts a picture of a US flag getting burnt in 2011.
Why 2011? We've had the same rallies in 2012,2013,2014,2015,2016 respectively. Lol

I'm not saying it didn't happen. Heck even it might have happened this very year. But as i said in the OP they are limited incidents and are frowned upon by Iranian people in social media.
I live in a western city in Iran (kermanshah) and i can assure you no such thing happened this year. At least in my city with a 2 million population

Congress recently repealed the law that restricted the government from using propaganda on its citizens. Now we can see the propaganda being used. Why do you think the panic over fake news? Their propaganda is useless when alternate sources of reality is available.
