Sanders: Trump is 'delusional,' says he could move US into 'authoritarian mode'

Sanders told CNN's Erin Burnett on "OutFront" Friday that although he is considerably more to the left than many of his fellow senators, he has never "just attacked people because their views are different than mine."

But Sanders said Trump, whom he called "a total hypocrite," put everyone in "a new era."

"I use the term 'delusional' with regard to Trump when he said there were 3 to 5 million 'illegals' who voted in the last election ... That is delusional," Sanders said. "Nobody in the world believes that is the case. There is zero evidence to back it up. But he makes that statement. So I think the word 'delusional' is correct."

It's a difficult thing to deal with when you try to analyze a statement and you find that seemingly every single part of it is a lie. I've found that with several of Trump's tweets.

The thing that bothers me most is how Trump's sycophants aren't bothered by the lying. It makes me wonder what kind of character they have.

I already know that the "Sanders is just crying because he lost" statements will come. Sanders is a U.S. Senator who has a duty to work with the POTUS. He is just talking about how that can be done when the POTUS is such a liar.

This is a matter of practicality. It's not even a matter of politics.

Hooray for common sense! I respect plenty of Republicans. Marco Rubio is a man of character, John McCain is a bad ass. But when presumably good people, such as the Republican ALL CAPS BRIGADE on ATS, defend every immoral thing the POTUS does, it makes me think ethics have sold out to some pathological competitive streak.
