Heaven help the liberals if anything bad happens from an unvetted person from one of the 7 named countries.

They are all vetted. This has not stopped the vetting process.

When the vetting process prohibits those doing the vetting from checking the subjects social media its not vetting. The temporary stop the EO put in place, that the courts ignored, was to review the failed vetting program obama put in place and to strengthen it.

Nothing is going to happen. It looks like someone smart in the white house (whoever he/she/they are, thank you) got through to Comrade Trump and talked some sense into him to re-write the EO and have it properly vetted this time around.

I bet you that the way these aides got through to Mr. Small Hands is by telling him that he would receive a crushing blow by the Supreme Court because there is a very good chance that they will side with the 9th circuit on this case. Despite the fact that a Supreme Court case would cost taxpayers millions of dollars, that wasn't what made Trump change his mind. What is changing his mind is that it will be a blow for his ego....and by all means, we can't have that because Comrade is the ultimate snowflake of them all.

No.
He said he is going to persue it all the way,
but that he _may_ issue another EO Monday or Tuesday,
because time is critical.

It was properly vetted last time around by the White House counsel and DOJ counsel.

That's invasion of privacy and it's ineffective.

Anyone intent on infiltrating who knows that the social media will be checked will have multiple accounts (we all have multiple accounts) and make sure that one is not accessed during the examination process - or will use encoded encounters on someplace like Facebook or a public forum (like a Bible study forum.)

Heck, I can think of two more ways around the absurd 'look at social media' idea. I'd bet any six-bit hacker could come up with even more.

I wonder who is going to run out first? will the progressives run out of money for EO court cases or will trump run out of ink and won`t be able to sign anymore EO?

Its not an invasion of privacy. An individual has no privacy rights when entering the US. The border search exception allows the unlimited / unrestricted search of a person, their property, electronic devices, cell phone, car, boat, plane etc.

When applying for a visa / green car / refugee status you either agree and provide all info requested or you can go back to the country you are from.

No, it is not. We are all entitled to our opinions and thoughts.

My wife does not like the whole travel ban and does not like President Trump in general. I was having a discussion with her about it and I told her that maybe he put the screws on a little tight at first but that once a process is sorted out and in place the people that should be entering the country will do so. She asked me why so extreme and I replied my .02 that it is quite possible that President Trump is actually going to try and take ISIS out and that it would be very smart to ensure that our borders and port of entries are secure before all hell breaks loose.
She finally saw the possibilities of what a real war on terrorists really entails. I am all for vetting and putting some real purpose at the inbound checkpoints.

I have a great EO.

If Trump cant block refugees he needs to do this.

Any politician, goverment worker or judge that is against a refugee ban should house them

All Trump has to do is make the vetting process impossible to get through. Then they will complain he should just restrict it to countries that have problems with supplying all the necessary information like the 7 he put in the ban.

It would likely go against the 3rd amendment.

The problem with the 7 countries is there is not a stable government, i.e. failed states, or they don't have the necessary databases or refuse to cooperate with the US on those vetting procedures. It doesn't matter what your vetting level is if the country they are coming from doesn't have the ability or won't cooperate with the background and legitimacy of the citizens. We have seen boxes of blank Syrian passports that ISIS has, they have been found in Germany, etc.

A new wrinkle is Venezuela, the failed socialist state, has been caught selling passports and citizenship to people from some of those countries.

Yes - good catch.

I've been watching the events in Venezuela. They are circling the drain and it may already be too late to stop it.

Regardless, If we're going to have a country based ban, Venezuela should definitely be on that list now. You can't trust *any* info coming out of there...

Such a beautiful country too....what a shame.
