Also, DEMOCRATS were in charge of the cities, towns, and police departments that jailed, fire-hosed, and turned attack dogs loose on Blacks in the 1960's.

I really don't know who they vote for but it is a good bet they would of course vote for the opposite party to Obama's and Clinton's but that would only last as long as there was not a mixed or African American Democrat candidate, the reason people like that simply don't care about politics but they do care about what they assume to be race often not knowing there own full family history's and assuming they are superior, xenophobia unfortunately is not limited to one group and over there in the states many in your African and mixed race community's are just as bad and evil with there own racial agenda's.

My opinion of Trump is that he is acting in a correct manner and fighting a very hard up hill battle to secure his nation for his people be they white, black or US Hispanics and all the while he is having the Racist, Sexist card thrown at him, God only knows don't his critic's even realise he is likely the most honest and un corrupt US president for at least a generation if nor more, he does what he say's and he does it to try to help his country though perhaps I though a foreigner do not agree with his pipeline decision, I could not reach an opinion on Hillary but that she seemed less than honest and would not answer him on many question's.

Now here is a point RIGHT wing party's are actually a favourite of the more vile in society as well, take the UK a survey of those whom classified themselves as Satanist's showed that almost all of them were dedicated Tory voters and of course here as well the nationalist's often vote for the Tory's for the same reason that the KKK may have voted democrat and that is because THEY see it as being as close as they can get to what they themselves want.

I believe you're right. Abraham Lincoln was a Republican, but the Democrats didn't want to let go of their slaves, until he forced them to.

Cruz must be really out of arguments if he needs to go back to the '60s to say bad things about democrats.

Yep. It all revolved around the southern USA. Lincoln left a bad taste in the mouths of the southern states, and drove them to the democrats.

Lyndon B Johnson, 100 years later, is the one who drove southern democrats gradually to the once hated republican party.

After their departure, along with the assassination attempt on Wallace and then the watergate fiasco, both parties were in sort of a flux until Reagan really set the ideological standards that we see today.

It's a lot more recent than most people think. It's not been that long ago you could find democrat conservatives and liberal republicans.

Yes.
In the 1960s, the Southern Democrats threw a fit over the rest of the Democrats backing Civil Rights. The racist Dixiecrats defected to the Republican party. That is why Strom Thurmond was a Republican when he died, why David Duke is a Republican today and why the KKK wholeheartedly endorsed Drumpf for president.

It has been pointed out on this site many times, and I imagine OP knows, that the parties switched ideals in regard to that and many other things. Even pretending to not know that is a little silly, at this point.

Also most if not all Dixiecrats (what you call "democrats") have actually joined the GOP so basically the KKK Democrats of old are the Republicans of today.
