The heard there was truth being spoken here and decided to shovel s*** on it.

That's not totally accurate.

We got Twitterfied. Gotta keep those visitors coming. ATS can't afford to be a secret clubhouse.

It belongs to me. I'm accepting membership..

Send me a U2U.

Echo chambers are good for society. They are containment zones that keep fringe ideologies from spreading.

What if everybody started drinking from the carton and left the toilet lid up? Can't have those things on Facebook.

Seriously though, send me a U2U I have the best extreme vetting team money can buy. I have every faith I their decisions on wether or not any of you deserve to be here.

I would personally love that. I also miss the old ATS and reading about conspiracy theories, paranormal and the like.

But as a Trump voter and avid supporter. What would you have those of us do when the snowflakes make threads to bash a President cause they didn't get the election result they wanted? "Wah, Wah." When those threads go away (unless of course there is some huge controversy) ATS should go back to normal. But as long as the cherry picking to create threads and butt-hurt continues I'm afraid ATS will not be like it was back when I was just lurking.

I agree. The Mud Pit is being used in a manner I highly doubt it was intended for. It's being used to post one anti-Trump troll thread after another by the same usual suspects. And most of the threads are clearly meant to insult and start arguments. That effects the chemistry of the entire forum.

You almost had me, up until you picked a side. I wasn't referring to any one "side" in particular. Both "sides" are equally as guilty.

To me these types of leftist political shill types are the same as the ufo and conspiracy critics and debunkers. Pretentious condescending judgmental and rude.

a reply to: ForteanOrg I'm interested in politics, but I too don't want my ATS experience to be overwhelmed with mainly US politics. I get enough of that in my personal and professional life.

Just start ignoring Trump threads. Do not reply to them, even if you feel the urge to do do. Don't Star them! Do not flag them!... do not even read them. IGNORE TRUMP Threads ffs.

Literally every second thread is about Trump. It's utterly ridiculous. I too, have joined ATS for completely different topics. I am so pissed I am not even visiting this site very often.

Nobody in America cares about politics in the EU, yet EU citizes go BONKERS over a US president. God, the vast majority of Americans don't even know who the President of European Council is!... they don't care, they don't give a #.
So why should we care about their Trump THIS much?! Just ditch it guys, please.

Actually the mods might consider banning/closing Trump threads, as it destroyed the purpose of this site, its image and the behaviour of some individuals is disgusting.

Just start ignoring them, I agree with that although it's not simple being that there's so few of the other threads comparatively. Suppose I could post paragraphs about nothing pretending to know about topics that always garners a following, so it's less boring with limited topics.

Also, see my prior post, closing the threads likely won't happen because it's the main activity now and without the site would probably be suffering in attendance.

all they need to do is as several members have suggested, make a third tab for politics(and throw religion in there while they're at it). the trump saga is rolled comedy gold, i dont wanna see it restricted and its where the revenue is coming from obviously. a third tab keeps the revenue stream flowing and ats gets its paranormal mojo back.

I agree with the OP. I used to get up a half an hour earlier just to spend time reading stuff on ATS. I'm losing interest- I can't find anything more than right and left wing bashing each other on American political issues. I've started to go back to some forums I left years ago, and though they don't measure up to the volume of interesting content ATS used to have, I am finding they are focusing much less on politics. I was afraid it would be the same everywhere, but it's not.

I still check in once a day just in case... but my checks are getting shorter and shorter. I am beginning to think the old ATS is gone and moved on.

I see the mudpit is being a major problem.
Political topics that could be discussed civilly and posted in other political forums that enforce t&c seem now to be dumped in the mudpit. The mudpit seems to be taking over like a plaugue.

I have a suggestion make it so stars can not be given out in the mudpit and make it so no mudpit threads are posted to the frontpage of ATS the mudpit should be there if people want to play in it but it should not be on the front page.

Wholehearted Amen.

I peruse the paranormal forum nearly everyday hoping there's a new story; something to remove me from the day-in-day-out political messages flooding in from every other media outlet. And you know what? It seems like new ones are becoming rare.

Now I value political opinions, and I like theories about political futures, but all too often the most popular posts here mirror something I've seen on CNN. We need a revival.

ahh remember when the craziest thing you heard about was Mels Hole or the Gemstone Files?
Or how close Monograms F-19 "Stealth" Fighter model was to the real thing?
People were still arguing about who shot JFK or the implications of REX 84.
Of course that's why Jade Helm 15 sounded so familiar.
And the Russians have been invading since the 80's.
Histories slowest damn invasion ever.
They must be riding armored snails or something.

I think it went south with 911.
There was too many conspiracy theories and they drove pretty deep divisions in people.
The arguments became more and more shrill and heated.
The good thing was it stayed fairly confined to the sections of the forum that dealt with it.

The death of UFO research didn't help when every new photo was possibly a computer generated fake.
Paranormal research was taken over by main stream television and thousands of amateur housewives.

The problem is the subjects that ATS dealt with stop becoming unique and rare.
I remember having to do research by having to actually meet people.
We would trade files that had been Ditto copied to the point of being barley readable.
It was interesting because you felt like maybe you learned something that not many other people knew.
Now one feels like everything on the internet is a lie.

The only suggestion I have is stay clear of the fray if possible.
When people start shouting just tune them out like the screaming of little children in a playground.
They will grow up eventually.
Of course like little kids I'm afraid there will be a lot of bloody noses and crying by the time it is over.

What annoys me most is the people who have to interject their political trolling into EVERY thread. It could be a thread about a bigfoot sighting, and some sub-70 IQ poster will interject some talking points nonsense about either Clinton or Trump. They must not have any other thoughts in their heads besides their spoon-fed obsession with a politician.

It's bizarre, sad and pitiful.

I have resorted to reporting those types of people... I suggest everyone does likewise if this happens?

Trump is now the only thing everyone wants to talk about. I am surprised he doesn't have his own forum yet.

Perhaps that's a solution! If the Trump stuff all goes to one forum, it's at least somewhat contained, whilst we preserve the freedom to discuss it. Good! Mods, board, can this be arranged?

Now, this is a good example of what I wrote before: bringing up your political views in a disrespectful manner. It's fine if you write that you voted for Trump, of course. But why the need to label your hounourable opposition like that? Do you really think that half of your fine nation (and if the popular vote is worth anything: more than half) are "snowflakes"? This of course may provoke other that did not vote for Trump, as they may feel offended. And given that this is the Internet, and most of us in here are anonymous, it's soooo easy to type in a nasty reply..

Yes, I originally came here for the paranormal/metaphysics etc, and I have attempted to author a couple of paranormal threads, but there just doesn't seem to be the interest, which is sad.

Furthermore, some of the rudeness is unbelievable, I had found a pic, posted in the MSM about a possible ghost picture (I even put possible in the title) and whilst there were one or two interested participants who wanted to discuss the pic, whether it was of a ghost or not, to have a one liner, proclaiming "bollocks" with no further input was a bit disheartening and pretty much killed the thread.

As such, although I come across many of these articles/pictures, I don't bother posting them, because whilst I personally have mixed feelings about whether they are real, fake or pareidolia, I don't want to go to the effort of uploading pics, obtaining quotes, adding my own opinions etc for someone to denounce the thread as "bollocks" By all means have a discussion about whether you think the pic is real or not, but to summarily dismiss a thread like that is just rude.

But it is hard to find new content apart from politics! It does not count when you create the content.
