I think Spicer should be in charge of bringing fourth Trumps citations. Give him something better to do than chew gum.

I don't believe for a second that he is making things up, he is getting information from somewhere. Bannon would be my guess.

TBH, I would find this the best and more favorite presidency of my life due simply from the comedy of him and his followers combined if only the lunacy didn't have real world consequences.

I can only hope now for (ironically) the republican house and senate to stand against this idiot and block his nonsense. I dont have massive hope, except that they may come together and realize how absurd he is and note that this will have lasting effects on the brand itself if they dont stop the mad king...dull his sword.

Many wont..they will fly the ship into the sun, but you dont need all of them, just enough to block.

I guess you are young enough to have missed the Obama presidency?

Although personally I enjoyed the Clinton one the best, as far as entertainment goes. That vast right wing conspiracy theory that let Billy boink interns in the bathroom while saying what Reagan did with the economy was Clinton's fault.

Bush was boring, Carter was.. sorta embarrassing?... Daddy Bush was a criminal, Reagan gave people hope.

My personal opinion, after being called a racist xenophobic bigot for 8 years because I have pointed out that we should probably start paying our bills, is that liberals and the die-hard social and fiscal conservatives can just wallow in their own self-pity for the next 3 years and then we can see what happens.

Life isn't black and white. To try to make it so must be very frustrating.

Murders Up in U.S. Cities–But Crime Rate Still Near Record Lows
Josh Sanburn
Dec 20, 2016
The 30 largest U.S. cities saw a double-digit increase in their murder rate in 2016, according to a new year-end report, even as crime nationwide remains near all-time lows.
A new study released Tuesday by New York University’s Brennan Center for Justice projects that the 2016 murder rate for the largest U.S. cities is up 14% from 2015 while the violent crime rate rose by 3.3%. The overall crime rate, however, increased by just 0.3%, thanks in large part to historically low levels of property crime, according to the study's authors.

This says crime "overall" is down, but murder is up....

So what now?

not 47%

I would like to see the number of shootings in the USA compared to previous days. Medical advances and ambulance response times have likely lowered the murder rate significantly as more people survive today than 50 years ago.

He's still wrong, I am curious though.

he is gonna have everyone so hung up on "fake news" he will start spitting out more and more "alternative facts" like these to keep the public in fear. the more fear he instills the more "alternative facts" will be believed by the public.

He never said 47% he said in 47 years.

Nm. My guess is he either lying, or dealing with so many numbers with no sleep lately that he is so exhausted that he got it wrong maybe? Lets see what he says when asked again.

I happen to agree with Trump that the press is crap these days, but it's hard to take him seriously when he can't get his facts straight either.

Trump is becoming the "CNN" of presidents.

The "FOX" of presidents.

FOX consistently rated least factual.

I think this CNN finger pointing came from FOX defenders.

Why would they not be triggered when our president stands before law enforcement and feeds them 'alternative facts ' to influence them.
I am sure that they know the numbers or they should know .Maybe he was testing them ? Maybe they don't know and he was making a point ...I watched a pair of democrats on the YT and one called Trump president Bush and said that she couldn't work with him while the other claimed that Russia was invading Korea ...

If what Trump said was off and law enforcement knew it they might have wanted to maybe let him know in private maybe .I am sure other democrats would have let the two gals know that they made their bo bo ...maybe ...maybe not ..

Is there, maybe, a national murder rate that IS the highest it's been in 47 years? Something like murders per day/year, or something? Something that isn't just the per capita rate?

I'm not saying there is... just a question.

Interesting that your source is CBS.

The same CBS who admits it failed to report at least 26% of terror attacks.

CBS News covered, in some cases heavily but at least to some extent, more than 74 percent of the attacks on the list.

archive.is...

That substantiates Trump's claim of the media underreporting terrorism.

He was possibly confusing Chicago stats with national stats, considering he was giving this speech in Chicago about Chicago.

Here is the portion of the speech the op left out that preceded the stat quote.

"If you ran Chicago, you would solve that nightmare, I'll tell you," Trump told visiting sheriffs. "I'll bet everybody in the room ... would raise their hand, because to allow, I mean literally hundreds of shootings a month, it's worse than some of the places that we read about in the Middle East where you have wars going on.

"It's so sad," Trump said. "Chicago's become so sad a situation."

www.chicagotribune.com...

That same article goes on to confirm that Chicago murder rate is worse than it has been in decades.

After years of decline, homicides in Chicago have been on the rise and exceeded 760 last year, the worst in two decades. Violence remained stubbornly high in January as homicides and shootings kept at about the same levels as a year earlier.

Either Trump straight up lied or he was wrong, those are the only two options available. What other people said and did months ago does not change what Trump did right now, that's just a deflection.

There is a third option...Was he standing on a street corner in Chicago?

The over all average is down, but there are areas where it is extremely high.... In the end it matters little if he miss spoke on it....There are very bad parts of our country that is seriously broke.

A list that includes attacks from all over the world , many involving no US citizens or any fatalities.

You really think every single one of these should be covered by every single news outlet?

Misspoke?
What he says doesn't matter?
He is the president of the United States. Seriously?
You don't think his supporters are going to run with it and perpetuate the misinformation?

And just how would his supporters perpetuate this? They seem to be very quite and calm. Now, with the left that have basically gone total retard since 30 seconds after he hit 270 votes, yes they will perpetuate this as everything else. Even with that there reaches a point that their constant whine will just become an aggravating noise, much like a fire alarm low battery beep, so even in their case really a non-issue too.

Two things to think about. First, every president has constantly said the wrong things and this is understandable since about 90% of everything that comes out of their mouths is recorded/heard by many as they basically talk all day long...lol They get 100s chances a day to say something not totally correct...

Second, though we can say crime has decreased every years since 1993 (mostly likely due to legal abortions than anything else) places like Chicago has not, and what has the President been talking about lately, Chicago.... Here we have a place that in 2016 has had it's worst violence in 20 years and that is saying a lot for there. Chicago is not alone either, so reduction since 1993 is an average, but not the norm for many places and its those places like Chicago that has the President's focus.

So you tell me Phage is it really a big deal after all?
