Only 15% of the population in Crimea voted in favor of the referendum. Those numbers come from Putin's own Human Rights Council.

Since then Russia has made it near impossible for anyone that opposes the annexation to remain on the peninsula.

Le Pen has said, as can be heard in the interview above, and I'm paraphrasing: "If a western bank would loan me money, I would take it. But they won't." She makes no bones about taking money from a Russian bank, and I think it's more telling that Western banks won't give her a dime. It's an interesting interview.

Yep, Russia is good at ethnic cleansing. They very nearly did it the last time they had Crimea. Now it'll be complete. I guess if no-one is there to object, the Russia can say they have total local support.

Regardless, nationalist parties the world over wallow in the politics of division. If the mainstream want A, then they will choose B. In the case of choice for Le Pen, money has helped choosing B.
