Sanctions are definitely a provocation and could easily be considered an act of war.

They have the ability to affect a nation's commerce, potentially starving them in many ways.

The statement which I found hypocritical and almost laughable was when the Trump administration said that Iran was "destabilizing the region".

Forget about the fact that we overthrew their government in 1953 via Operation Ajax.

Weve been attacking Iraq and the Middle East almost non-stop since 1991.

We almost literally created ISUS yet theyre the ones destabilizing the ME...?

Obama said they were so friendly though.

Russia would support them militarily and that would be another conflict America managed to get her self embroiled in abroad.

So the potential to escalate towards WW-3 seems reason enough not to oblige.

They are on the list though....

Who was left after them? N Korea?

I don't defend Iranian position! But let not forget they had empire a world power at that time when the shores of America weren't discovered by the White race.

Russia won't do it. May be China will? WW3 may be USA vs Iran-China-North Korea

Iran can read the writing on the wall, the US is planning on taking them down. No doubt they will prepare for that day.

Meanwhile, the US has squashed Iraq, Lybia and force chaos in several other ME countries.

There was incident in the 50's of the overthrow of Iran's government for the control of their oil. Probably not easy for Iran to forget.

Sanctions are great - the president can always go around them illegally to get what he wants (Reagan).
