Mr Bannon, formerly the head of the populist right-wing, Breitbart News website, will join high-level discussions about national security.
The order was signed on Saturday.

The director of national intelligence and the joint chiefs will attend when discussions pertain to their areas.

Under previous administrations, the director and joint chiefs attended all meetings of the NSC's inner circle, the principals' committee.

Trump puts Bannon on security council, dropping joint chiefs

The thing that concerns me about this move is the fact that it sounds like an echo chamber could be forming around Trump.

An echo chamber is a metaphorical description of a situation in which information, ideas, or beliefs are amplified or reinforced by communication and repetition inside a defined system.

Echo chamber (media)

We should all understand how an echo chamber works because we see it daily on this website. Those who lean to the left consciously or unconsciously attempt to create an echo chamber sometimes and those on the right do too.

The thing that I find troubling about that is the way that Trump supporters operate. Their attempts at drowning out opposing views have been the worst I've ever seen.

If the inner circle of the Trump administration operates the way Trump supporters do, the story linked to above could end being extremely important. I believe the Trump administration needs more balance, and this move seems to be going away from that. Someone needs to play the devil's advocate role at least.

Echo chamber wasn't my first thought. My first thought is why the hell is a scumbag like Bannon, whose only skills involve alt-facts and BS catered to the extreme right, being allowed to sit above generals, military and intelligence personnel in the first place?

More proof the Chump is an incompetent clown. But that's not news, thats business as usual now.

Great stuff Trump. I mean is this man not amazing? Great business move after great business move. I suppose that is the reason all of his businesses succeeded, except that brand deal. Putting your name on everything and profiting of your fathers last name? What kind of business is that? For someone reason he couldn't get that one idea off the ground. Trump steaks though, Trump U, Trump Airlines, all successes. In fact I believe Trump Airlines is in direct competition with American Airlines. Quite the feat for a man who was given nothing by his father; and inherited nothing. He is the new day Famous Amos.

Now, he is in the presidential seat making great changes. Changes that in no way go against our constitutional rights. Taking it to the press. So what if the numbers are accurate? We have no time for their facts. Alternative facts; these are the ones to be acknowledged. Who says 250,000 is less than 1.8million? He is a liar. They are equal, and you have to applaud Trump for calling out the media for this blatant misrepresentation of numbers.

I for one am happy with this move. A white nationalist in a position that will no doubt influence the nation. Of course he is going to look out for all Americans. Brown, white, black.... that's what white nationalists do, right?

en.wikipedia.org...

Structure of the United States
National Security Council[4]
Chair President of the United States
Statutory Attendees[5]:
Vice President of the United States
Secretary of State
Secretary of Defense
Secretary of Energy

Whats the big deal? The statutory attendees is what matters. So the Military still get invited to play when it pertains to their area of expertise.

I believe the Trump administration needs more balance, and this move seems to be going away from that.

Balance as in keeping the Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff? The same people who profit from waging endless wars?

Inherited nothing ?

In this case, he inherited control and eventually one-quarter ownership of a family organization worth about $200 million in 1974, and invested heavily in Manhattan. Back in 1974, $200 million was worth something: close to $800 million in today’s money.

Meh, fake news. In Trump world 200 million dollars is equal to nothing. Haven't you heard?

To be fair he did only inherit one-quarter of that so it is a triumph he made so much from investing so little in New York.
I'm starting to see the light.

Good, as Trumps chief strategist he'll need to be 100% on top of security and intelligence because the US doesn't need another international embarrassment like liars lying that a B grade video caused the rape and murder of a US ambassador and staff, which was another, in a very long list of, lies to cover up illegal gun running.

Many, many more examples like this one exist.

Dodgy Clinton and Dodgy Obama resulted in Trump and Bannon - cause and effect. Those screaming the loudest about it are most to blame for the situation they find themselves - they're simply too hysterically obsessed with the fake narrative to understand basic reality.

You do know that Bush did similar things while in a unprepared transition and look what happened in his first year.

Yes, I am aware of the warpigs antics and appointments from 2000 onwards - Are you suggesting Bannon will deliberately orchestrate another false flag so Haliburton and the new US/Chinese petroleum consortium can get another US military escort into a foreign country?

Are you suggesting Trump is unprepared and that he will regret this appointment?

Are you suggesting Trump will act like an establishment career politician?

Don't worry about it, brother. Trump said the magic words to 0bama before swearing in, "I'm rubber, you're glue. Everything that hits me bounces off and sticks to you."

The shoe's on the other foot now. Popcorn time. More salt please.

(Excellent post BTW. I did hammer a star to it)

At first, from what I read, I liked that he came from a working class family. But then he got into finance working at Goldman Sachs and then the finance side of Hollywood. (So that is at least 2 guys from Goldman Sachs in the cabinet.) Not sure how well qualified he is to advise on Global politics.

His family were working-class, Irish Catholic, pro-Kennedy, pro-union Democrats. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1976 and holds a master's degree in National Security Studies from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. In 1985, Bannon received a Master of Business Administration degree with honors from Harvard Business School.

Bannon was an officer in the United States Navy for seven years in the late 1970s and early 1980s

After his military service, Bannon worked at Goldman Sachs as an investment banker in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department. In 1990, Bannon and several colleagues from Goldman Sachs launched Bannon & Co., a boutique investment bank specializing in media.

In the 1990s, Bannon became an executive producer in the Hollywood film and media industry. Bannon produced 18 films

So basically you're saying the guy is a well educated Navy Veteran/successful businessman?
Well then,
Ironically I'm ok with all this!

The People on ATS who Neither Lean Left nor Right are Heard Loud and Clear without the Din of Party Politics , who Represents them ? President Trump Needs to have Loyal People who are on the " Same Page " in his Administration if he is to get things Done and make America Great Again . The " Middle " Leaning Public are willing to except that , the Man Deserves a Chance to do the Job as he see fits as President .
