Planned parenthood said that access to safe and legal abortions is an American Value. This is in response to Trump reinstating the Mexico city policy, and this blocks tax payer funds to non govt orgs that perform or promote abortions overseas. I wonder if Cecile Richards President of PP will donate any of her $600,000 annual salary to help the needy overseas?

In response to the Trump administration reinstating the Mexico City Policy, which blocks taxpayer funds to non-governmental organizations that perform or promote abortion overseas, Planned Parenthood Executive Vice President Dawn Laguens said “access to safe, legal abortion is an American value.

A huge majority of Americans don't want taxes paying for abortions in or outside the US.

A Marist poll conducted in December found that 83 percent of Americans “oppose using tax dollars to fund abortions” both abroad (83%) and in the U.S. (61%).

Planned Parenthood Executive Vice President Dawn Laguens said this is going to make the person who is preggy have figure out how to get an abortion with out US tax payer money. he continued by saying this is insulting to women, their intelligence and freedom.

www.cnsnews.com...
In many cases, this is just about if a woman is going to ask about an abortion,” Laguens admitted, “that they can’t refer them to someone who could provide a safe, legal abortion, but have to let them be out in the world trying to figure this out on their own. And it really is insulting to women, their intelligence and their freedom.”

Ilyse Hogue, president of the abortion advocacy group NARAL, also slammed the reinstatement of the Mexico City policy, saying, “It's telling that one of Trump's first executive actions combines two of his favorite things: silencing anyone who disagrees with him and repressing women.”

Most Americans didn't even know their hard-earned tax dollars were going out of the country to fund abortions elsewhere. American citizens have issues they could use a little help with, and it's insulting that their tax dollars have been used like this.

But Planed Parenthood is claiming a 'Access to Abortion is an American Value'.

Do they franchise in other countries? Or some other financial loss is going to happen to them?

Why the big yank from PP?

I've yet to get my hands on the actual text of that E.O., but the best summary I found implied that the funding that was cut was explicitly NOT to be used for abortions in the first place.

If true, the outrage has nothing to do with abortions is really about us no longer giving.... free healthcare to people outside of our own country.

Pretty funny, right?

Agreed, we should not be giving health care to other countries.

$500 mil saved. A year!!

Use cheese or wursts if you want to have sex.

A sweet potato or yam, works just as well.

American tax payer dollars were never paying for abortion in or outside the US, except in cases of rape, incest or the health of the woman. This new rule doesn't ban tax payer abortion, because the ban has already been in place for decades.

This is your second thread on this topic, and you're still promoting falsehoods!

I still can't find a REAL source on this information, but this isn't bad:

kff.org...

It shows that this same law has been back and fourth for 30 years.

This story is about planned parenthood's irrational response to the pulling of money for international abortions.

I don't see how this can be a good thing.

The policy requires foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to certify that they will not “perform or actively promote abortion as a method of family planning,” using funds from any source (including non-U.S. funds), as a condition for receiving U.S. government global family planning assistance and, as of Jan. 23, 2017, any other U.S. global health assistance.

If women in need can't find access to safe, clean abortions, they'll resort to dirty and dangerous abortions, and women will die.

No it's not. It's about the religious right being hypocritical in denying poor struggling women abroad the same services that American women are constitutionally guaranteed in the USA, and that the UN has determined to be Human Rights.

OF COURSE!

Because abortions are legal in 58 muslim countries and it's called honor killing.

We know what you are referring to. Coat hangers and back alley's.

Worry about FGM with broken coke bottles.

Abortions are legal under Islamic law. What's your point?

What's FGM?

Nope,

The right is not tied to $$$. If it is important, they will find a way.

We have a little mess called $20,000,000,000,000 thanks to Obama and Bush.

And right wing religion has nothing to do with doing the right thing.

Isn't that, or rather, shouldn't that be up to those govts?

We have enough issues in our own backyards with people unable to get health care. Shouldn't America come first?

Under Islamic Law isn't always a good thing to talk about.

Honor killings-stoning-women driving-women dressing-women going outside without relatives-be heading-cutting off hands......Abortion, kinda fits right in there too.

What I've never understood about this is why is this political and why do they need taxpayer money anyway. They are 501 C-3 and have lots of wealthy supporters, so why don't they just fundraise like other charities far more deserving than them, who do fine with donations.

I guess their supporters don't think enough of them to give to them. Seems odd. Any billionaire on the Left could just write them a check and be a hero among their peers.

So, it isn't about saving lives by preventing women from having abortions, it's about money, and the old "Why should the USA pay for anything?"

Why render foreign medical aid
at all?
