In response to the Trump administration reinstating the Mexico City Policy, which blocks taxpayer funds to non-governmental organizations that perform or promote abortion overseas, Planned Parenthood Executive Vice President Dawn Laguens said “access to safe, legal abortion is an American value.
A Marist poll conducted in December found that 83 percent of Americans “oppose using tax dollars to fund abortions” both abroad (83%) and in the U.S. (61%).

In many cases, this is just about if a woman is going to ask about an abortion,” Laguens admitted, “that they can’t refer them to someone who could provide a safe, legal abortion, but have to let them be out in the world trying to figure this out on their own. And it really is insulting to women, their intelligence and their freedom.”
Ilyse Hogue, president of the abortion advocacy group NARAL, also slammed the reinstatement of the Mexico City policy, saying, “It's telling that one of Trump's first executive actions combines two of his favorite things: silencing anyone who disagrees with him and repressing women.”
A huge majority of Americans don't want taxes paying for abortions in or outside the US.
The policy requires foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to certify that they will not “perform or actively promote abortion as a method of family planning,” using funds from any source (including non-U.S. funds), as a condition for receiving U.S. government global family planning assistance and, as of Jan. 23, 2017, any other U.S. global health assistance.

This story is about planned parenthood's irrational response to the pulling of money for international abortions.

I don't see how this can be a good thing.

If women in need can't find access to safe, clean abortions, they'll resort to dirty and dangerous abortions, and women will die.
