I'm sure many of us remember the website that was brought to our attention a few weeks ago, where a company called Demand Protest was advertising offering to pay people to protest against Trump for a quite staggering $2500 plus $50/hour. Plus health insurance. Plus benefits. Plus dental. Plus training. Plus expenses.

And how this was alleged to be the work of George Soros masterminding all of the anti-Trump protests.

To debunk it.

1) Demand Protest claims to have run 48 campaigns, despite only having registered their domain name last month.

2) Non-working phone number. Dead end voicemail box.

3) No record of any corporate registrations.

4) No business records. No tax receipts.

5) No responses to email.

6) who.is information shows demandprotest.com attracted virtually no interested until a couple of weeks ago when it was picked up by the alt-right bloggers as 'proof of SJW misdeeds and Soros involvement'.

7) Despite having not existed until after the election, the website claims to include an endorsement from a 2016 presidential campaign chair who called the groups work 'astonishing'.

8) They do not name this campaign chair.

9) No human response to any inquiries.

10) Not a single piece of evidence suggesting anybody has ever had any work from them. No personal testimonies. No blogs.

11) Whois data shows the registrant as "Contact Privacy Inc. Customer 124951702" which operates from a backlot in Toronto. Not in itself damning, but here are several companies located at this address. A web hosting company called "OpenSRS", and an internet company called "Tucows".

Conclusion: Deny ignorance - website is fake.

Did you see the interview that Tucker Carlson had with the guy behind it about a week ago? Carlson called him out for it immediately and it was readily apparent that the guy was just trolling the media, trying to prove a point that they'll cover absolutely anything as long as it runs against Trump.

Yeah, a few ATS threads from 18 January exist. It was performance art satire. Ample laughs and high fives over it. Tucker Carlson interview was brilliant. A simple search of the key phrase "Demand Protest" would have returned all the results from prior ATS threads.

Thank you Painterz . The claims about this website and it's offering seemed at the time to be ridiculous. The idea that the liberals could be Sooooo stupid as to have a program like the one supposedly 'exposed' by the alt-right bloggers is mind-numbing. Wasn't there also an allegation that there were adverts run in a couple of dozen newspapers around the country advertising these 'job offerings'' ?

Certainly the whole idea of paid actors pretending to be protesters, or for that matter enthusiastic supporters is one that the perpetrators would want to keep clandestine, secret. This could be done and most likely is on a much smaller and intimate basis, on a basis that it could be kept secret. But to believe that it would be advertised in papers around the country where it would easily be found and the perpetrators 'exposed' is juvenile.

So how much were people paid to pretend to be paid?

Sounds like someone just creating a site and spreading BS. The worst thing is that there are people out there that will see that site and get all wound up and want to share it with others.

My father told me back in the mid sixties that "You can't believe half of what you hear and only three quarters of what you see". I guess that is outdated now. CGI and people specializing in creating unreal illusions is taking over our reality.
