It doesn't. A certain part of the population of the UK wants them out of the Trident program and are over hyping this.

It never ceases to amaze me that we entrust the most dangerous items in existence to a bunch of sailors, many of whom joined because they were crap at school/couldn't get a real job.

I can't believe that you have to have a Bachelor's Degree to be a military pilot and only a High School Degree to be an aircraft mechanic.

It takes a College Degree to break them and a HS Diploma to fix them.

this entire cover up made me sure that the below was actaully a missile and the US has been covering up the shortfall for quite some time.

What shortfall? They've successfully fired the Trident II hundreds of times. One test failure does not a shortfall make.

All im saying is, that 2010 incident still looks like a missile launch to me.

The compensation tests weren't actual firings, they were simulated. And the other test was just to test the doors. Submarines frequently come back with problems that need fixing. I've known many people that served on subs and some of the stories they told about events both during their cruise and what the boat was like when it got back were scary.

The US has successfully fired the same missile 157 times since the Trident II was developed. There were a few failures, but that's normal for any system.

Not that BS again! It was a lesson on how the combination of a slow news day/perspective and people not realizing how far away contrails can be seen.

Perspective fools a lot of people. See following video. The contrail directly in front of the person filming is not going up or vertical it is just the perspective in relation to the filming location.



Some people simply can't get their head around perspective. That is why you see so many internet videos claiming that they are seeing missiles.



Yes contrails can be seen hundreds of mile away.

What is the furthest distance contrails can be seen

Think about it? If it was a missile launch off California then where are all the reports from airliners and passengers?

Do you not think that pilots would have observed this claimed huge great vertical plume and reported it? That is why perspective comes into play here. Any pilot viewing that trail (contrail) would have seen it as horizontal. No pilot has reported seeing a vertical plume. It was misinterpreting perspective that made many cry missile!

Nothing unusual on radar, nothing reported by pilots or ground observers. Why didn't the LAX Air Traffic Controllers in the tower report anything unusual? No reports from mariners and no reports from the Islanders off the coast.

Wouldn't it be interesting if North Korea Missiles destined for the USA, or USA interests, are the ones that blow-up within 10 seconds of launch? That would definitely tell Kim Jong that WE are in control of his missiles..NOT HIM.

If yesterday's launch pad explosion was a missile destined for U.S. interests, Kim Jong has to be in a manic, paranoid, state of mind by now.
