Maybe most of you have heard of this, but I'd like to share it, if you have a moment to read it.
I think a great thing my papa taught me was the Serenity Prayer that he learned when he was in AA when he was younger.
Neither of us subscribed to any religion, but the overall message I think is important, even though I'm not an addict. The mindset it can put you in has gotten me through many emotionally stressful times in my life, and I know a lot of people on both sides have been stressed by the virility of the election arguments.
"God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, And wisdom to know the difference."
Instead of God you could really use anything, self, universe, etc.
Grant me the serenity, to accept the things I cannot change.
I cannot change the outcome of the election, I accept that fact.
Courage to change the things I can
I did use my chance to vote the way I saw fit, sometimes feeling such a responsibility can make you scared or nervous.
And Wisdom to know the difference.
That last part can be tricky, but....we could all look out for one another while we figure it out, in a civil way I'd like to think.
I love that prayer it can be applied to so many different aspects of life.

There is no God who listen's to our prayers. There's just government corruption and pirates stealing from the American people. There are just too many successful evil people to suggest God participates in the affairs of men. So either God doesn't participate or God is just a fairy tale and doesn't exist. Any "evidence" for the existence of God seems purely subjective as far as I can tell.

What difference does it make to the right the expression of "hatred and hyperbole" ? The left has NO power. So why is the right so obsessed with what the left is doing. Just STFU and govern the country with your right wing policies.
consider it an olive branch. I just want to know if those on the left have any desire to work together?

More hypocrisy? Spare me the kumbaya bull#. You had your chance to work together with the Left and fought tooth and nail to not do so. Now that you have the seats of power you want to act high and mighty.
So you are going to take the low road. How sad.
I had hopes for all those who claim to be superior in so many ways would show everyone how good they could be at rising above the muck.
I'll put you down for a maybe.

Honestly, in my little corner of the world, I'm seeing a lot of smug, sore winner conservatives carrying on.
No doubt there are many butthurt liberals, but to me, there seems to be an equal amount of the above mentioned conservatives as well.

Ahhhh......I would urge you to re read my post. But if you really want to argue an opinion that we share, on a topic apart from the main point of the thread, just PM me so I can show you why you're arguing with a wall. It's okay. Benefit of the doubt and what not.

I did not say that I am not willing to work with the Right or support Trump when he does good work. What I did say is that is hypocritical of you to say the things you are saying considering how Obama, Hillary and the Left have been treated over the past years.
I had hopes for all those who claim to be superior in so many ways would show everyone how good they could be at rising above the muck.
Who claimed to be superior? You're just making crap up. How can you expect us to work together when you fabricate nonsense?
I'll put you down for a maybe.
Making lists already?

There is one "right" way to think about God. And your way is not it.
Friedrich Nietzsche had some acute criticisms of Christianity that would apply to your Lord's prayer. He said Christianity was born in response to Roman oppression. It took hold in the minds of timid slaves who did not have the courage or strength to take what they really wanted. The slaves could not admit to their own failings. So they clung to a philosophy that made virtue of cowardice. Everything the Christians wanted and wished they had in their lives for fulfillment was considered to be a sin. A position in the world, prestige, good sex, intellectual mastery, personal wealth were too difficult or beyond their reach. The Christian slaves created a hypocritical creed denouncing what they really wanted but were incapable of achieving while praising what they did not want was being virtuous. So in the Christian value system sexlessness turned into 'purity', weakness became "goodness," submission to authority became "obedience," and in Nietzsche's words, "not-being-able-take-revenge" turned into "forgiveness." A Christian slave was too weak to have any personal voice and was only capable of bending a knee to whoever was in authority.
Nietzsche's Ubermensch would laugh at your Lord's prayer. An Ubermensch never allows his own limitations are being obstacles.

Please don't incorrectly cherry pick my post to derail the OP.
Thank you.
Here's the thing. I believe we have a common enemy. The same idiots who offered us Trump vs. Hillary and banished Ron Paul from any media coverage, shunned Bernie and made him an outcast, and continue to drive separation between the people. We all see it, we all talk about it, then it's back to "they did it before, so I'm going to do it now".
Again, at some point we all need to grow the # up. I'm willing to try, are you?

I guess at the moment I don't think either side are interested in working together...

I I'll even play the "what if" game here and say that if Hillary won, at some point, we on the right would have to "get over it" and accept things for what they are. So how about it?
The right has already proven they couldn't get over it, accept things for the way they are, and work together. Look at the last 8 years.
Obama was attacked on everything he did, and the right made sure to obstruct him on everything, whether they previously agreed with the action or not.
To hell with the right; it's time for the left to give them a taste of their own medicine.
