I know this is late and will likely get little play but please listen to this short video. Mason Weaver a former black panther fighting for equality alongside congressman John Lewis tells it like it is. Just a 3-4 minutes and worth it.

I have always believed it was democrats who kept the black community down starting with LBJ institution of welfare. I could say much about the results but believe this gentleman says it all if you are willing to listen.

EDIT I think the word compete says it all

Hate to be a white male who isn't ashamed of being born and also being clueless to pop culture, but what the heck is a "black panther" member?
It's not a cat I this syntax, but it also doesn't appear to be a sports team.
Cut those out and all I can come up with is cult.

what i really want to see is the day when the black community doesnt have someone to blame.
so if Dems failed, how long will it take to realize this? its not the Dems fault that the black community cant see its not working for them... maybe it was never meant to work, just look like it could work.

I know some white people that hate other white people.

*shrug*

It's not like this is some kind of "shocking" thing. There are outliers, people who don't follow the standard in every group.

I fail to see what this proves or disproves, other than a self-affirming pat on the back to those who dislike John Lewis.

It's just like when a black Trump supporter gets praised and puppeted around as "proof" that Trump isn't a racist or something.

As I said, it just makes people who don't like John Lewis feel vindicated, justified, and better about themselves.

Also, one former Black Panther is supposed to somehow be a spokesman for other black people? That's kind of...

You seem to miss the point and i will not bother to explain since you should be able to examine yourself and understand why.

Personally, I have no reason to dislike John Lewis but that was never the point of the video.

It is the Democratic party who has beaten down black people and kept them in poverty and is has only been the few who have risen above and shown they are equal and able to compete on the same level despite what they had to work through.

Welfare keeps people down and removes the incentive to improve yourself and be better than what you thought you could be

"There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs – partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.” - Booker T. Washington - 1911

People are waking up everyday. I am especially happy to see blacks beginning to recognize they have been used by the Democrat party to get votes by making big promises to them. All the $$$ that pour into minority programs and minority communities from government grants go where? Who really gets that grant money? And what do they really do with it?

Awake and awakening blacks are finally seeing that the programs to help minority non-profits have mainly done nothing but corrupt and turn other blacks into fake activists. They are playing their communities like a fiddle. They hold a carrot out on a stick and keep them chasing after something they will never catch. And who is getting rich?! The Al Sharptons, the Jesse Jacksons, and their ilk.

And it seems you prove my point.

You see this man as self-affirming your own beliefs, your own statements above confirm that fact.

You already have this idea in that the Democrats are horrible for the black community, and this man in the OP/video cements your own views and offers "proof" that hey -- even other black people don't like Lewis!

As I said, offering up a former Black Panther as "proof" that Lewis is working with some oppressor is spin. Plain spin. It's racially motivated spin to give a viewer the impression that black people don't like John Lewis.

THIS describes YOU:

"I am afraid that there is a certain class of race-problem solvers who don't want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public.
My experience is that people who call themselves "The Intellectuals" understand theories, but they do not understand things. I have long been convinced that, if these men could have gone into the South and taken up and become interested in some practical work which would have brought them in touch with people and things, the whole world would have looked very different to them. Bad as conditions might have seemed at first, when they saw that actual progress was being made, they would have taken a more hopeful view of the situation." - Booker T. Washington - 1911

Dispute HIM, I DARE YOU!!!

Care to further refute what he said with, I dunno, facts?

I don't know how old you are but I have to ask, were you there?

Or are you in denial because this runs counter to your belief system.

Lewis didnt go to the Bush inauguration either, who cares.

40 years and no progress, race relations are at an all time low since the 30s.

Thanks Obama
