A comment by someone (and my own response) triggered my curiosity - who exactly pays for what in the inauguration.

Turns out that my comment "the taxpayer" is not quite correct:

Taxpayers foot the bill for the inaugural swearing-in, security and the parade; inaugural balls and celebrations are funded by private individuals. It may be no surprise that the biggest tab comes for security.

Congress forks over only $1.25 million for the actual swearing-in and a luncheon afterwards.

Trump's inaugural committee has raised $100 million and may be the most expensive inauguration ever.

Yes it will be yuge. I imagine a lot of Trump water will be bought and lot of wine from Eric trump's company. That is the way they normally do it. Take donations and buy things from themselves.

Or for themselves, whatever the case may be.

I should form a corporation. Ask for donations. Then have an event. I will buy food and drink at a discount, sell it at a higher price and I will rent out my apartment and the furniture used to sit on.

Well there will be no exorbitant celebrity star fees to pay?

From what I've heard it seems no one is interested in performing

If your life was being threatened by hateful, intolerant liberals (like Jennifer Holliday), you probably wouldn't want to perform either.

Ya know whats really funny, is that R-Kelly of all people won't perform at the inauguration. Even the guy who pee'd on the 14 year old girl, and got caught with a bunch of kitty porn won't perform for Trump, to me that says a lot. Maybe even a little irony there.

Damn!
No smug celebs, "artists" and "musicians" to perform for Trump on Jan 20?
Boy oh BOY what are we going to do now? We need our Jay-z and Beyonce fix or we get bored and leave early!

Oh wait that's Hillary supporters that are too mad they lost so now they resort to trying to mock Trump with "Ha ha, no celebs are coming!".

I dread the thought. Let's go with "whatever it takes" to wreak havoc and dismantle the government.
The MSM will be at the coliseum to watch the lions devour their prey. Cheering for the lions and blaming Trump & Co.

Well said. It's reassuring to know how many prayers are being said.
