How so? Crimea was still a part of Ukraine when annexed by Russia whereas Texas was an independant and sovereign nation for a decade prior to being becoming a state. The US didn't use force to annex Texas, Texas requested to be admitted to the United States and had been doing so since 1837 but then President, Andrew Jackson and subsequently, Martin VanBuren took no action on this request. Texas didn't become a state until 1845. It's not even close to the same thing

Excellent points. Also, the vast majority of "Mexicans" are descendants of the conquering Spaniards, not the people native to that area.
