Strange.

Russia deployed their SAMs to protect Russian assets deployed in Syria - around Tartus naval base and the airport near Latakia. It is more likely that the missile claim is an air launched missile. Israel doesn't even have to breach Syrian airspace to attack such targets. The missiles can be launched in stand-off mode for example over Lebanese airspace.

For example the November 2016 airstrike.

The missile thing in relation to Israeli strikes does tend to get misreported. The easiest option for the Israelis is stand-off air-launched missile strikes.

Russia is not going to get involved in Syrian-Israeli disputes of this nature. The Russians deployed their advanced SAMs systems to protect the bases where they have the assets deployed. They did that because they are not going to rely on the Syrians for that level of protection.

Their main base protection is primarily against a terrorist threat such as a hi-jacked airliner being used. They cover all options with long, medium and short range air defence to protect against such a threat. No Russian commander is going to deploy such high value assets and have to rely on the Syrians to protect them.

How do you think Assad feels at these strikes despite the Syrians themselves getting S-300s, Pantsir-S, etc from Russia? He's probably fed up of berating and sacking his air defence commanders even after the delivery of new SAM systems from the Russians. What the Russians will have supplied to the Syrians will be export monkey model variants. There is no way that the Russians will have supplied Syria with full capability air defence systems. The Israelis would have a field day hacking, exploiting and hoovering up intelligence from full up Russian level systems if they were in the hands of the Syrians. The Russians are not stupid hence the Syrians get the degraded export variants.

Meanwhile... back in the real world, the only thing preventing the state of Israel from being handed their ass, is the backing of the US and western allies. It's akin to a piss weak little bully going around acting big and tough while his big hulk of a brother stands behind daring anyone to retaliate. Remove that big brother from the equation though, and no god will protect him from getting his ass righteously handed to him by those he had wronged.

Yea sorry but the only thing that is special about the Jews is the level of protection they have had for 80 years from America and NATO states.
The Greeks are still here, as well as the Egyptians and Persians (now Iran). The Babylonians never reached outside Mesopotamia and yet the city itself (now Baghdad) still exists. The Romans still rule the world today, they became the Empire that now rules the Oceans through USA/UK/France , or basically Oceania (Including Asian vassals Japan/South Korea).
