Hollywood out of all the industries in the country as their bargaining chip, the spokesperson argued that Hollywood “is, simply put, the base of the entire modern American culture. It is the foundation of the country, so to speak, the glue that’s holding it together. And think about what happens when you destroy the foundation of a house. It comes crashing down, right? Well, that’s exactly what’s going to happen to America unless Donald Trump realizes how real the danger of that actually is, and chooses to step down as President of his own free will. And while we’re on the subject, between you and me – nobody wants Hollywood to stop doing its thing, but this is a necessary move.”

Wow, talk about delusional! I don't know what else to say.

Spinzon reports: Rosie O’Donnell, Debra Messing, Ed Asner and Michael Shannon are among the dozens of artists, entertainers, and activists who have attached their names to an effort calling for a month-long protest to stop President-elect Donald Trump.

So? Who cares? They could vanish tomorrow and few would notice.

It's a fake story.

The "spokesperson" quotes are made up.

It does appear to be a hoax.

Thanks for the heads up.

Ha! Snopes.

That won't help in convincing people it's a hoax.

Actually, nothing will for the most part.

But there are two pertinent points for those keeping score..

The spokesperson is never named.

The quotes supposedly said in the New York Times do not exist.

We give too much attention to the Hollywood crowd. To take it to its simplest level, they are paid (VERY well) to sing, dance and shake their little hineys for us. They should never have more clout then any average working joe. That Susan Sarandon and her little whine fest needs to be reminded that Kim Kardashian is probably more relevant than her and makes more money....and she's famous for being famous (and a porn video). Seriously, who do these people think they are?? Because they are wealthy and they can spout off Shakespeare in the drop of a hat, we should listen to them? Threaten to take away their overpriced cr@p?? Go for it, maybe we'll get some new fresh and hungry artists. There has got to be a million of them just in the L.A. Area.
Pppfffffttt.....

Still, I'd rather listen to a hollywood celebrity than the criminals we have in congress or the talking heads like Sean Hannity, Rachel maddow, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh etc. And speaking of the criminals in congress...when did we as a nation start thinking that it's okay to listen to lawyers (one of the least liked professions on the planet) and spoiled rich kids like Trump and Paris Hilton?

Meh, Snopes may be a little biased, but their stuff generally checks out as true.

That it does not exist in the NYT is evidence enough for me.

Describing Hollywood as “the base of the entire modern American culture“

That may well explain how we got so screwed up in the first place...

I think just reading the actual article should be enough to convince anyone. My first reaction was to assume it was true until I did actually read it. It is an successful trolling of anyone willing to believe it. No one is that stupid, not even Rosie.

Most movies are terrible these days with a few exceptions so I'd fully support their strike. A new group would immediately fill the void and we wouldn't miss a beat.

This has as much chance of happening as them moving to Canada like they promised. They are drama queens. All talk no action.

Drama queens! Hahaha!

Who the hell do these clowns think they are?
Haven't been to the movies in 25 years, missing another 8 while they strike when Trump is in office isn't gonna hurt me.

It really helps to read a little of the thread before making a fool out of yourself....it's a hoax.

If Hollywood was conservative in learning and the tables were turned around, all we would hear from the msm is how they are holding the country hostage...

If you ask me, sports is what holds this country together more so than movies. But that is IMO with nothing to back it up.

SO, they'd strike. Who would benefit? The sports industry. NFL ratings would sky rocket. NBA would see numbers never seen before. People would actually give a crap about baseball again. Hell, the PGA tour would become interesting finally.

I think this is a hoax. I can't find any other sources other than far-right wing blog "news" sites.

Does anyone have a link to any of the celebrities involved actually speaking on this, or any tweets from any of them about it, or a website for this group "Refuse Racism" that talks about a call for an industry-wide strike, or anything other than a lot of right wingers screaming about it?

How long will all the Hollywood pedos be able to hold out though?

Will they begin dating people their own age?

The horror!

ETA Their list of Big Names includes Rosie O'Donnel, one person im not sure who that is, a guy i was pretty sure had died, and one person ive never heard of 😄😄😄😄😄😄😄

Good call, Urantia. I saw a starlet arm in arm with a famous
guy I thought had died ten years ago. And he looked the part too.
I see pair-offs like that and think [He must really have a lot of money].
It's probably a Mandela Dimballa. Kiss my mask, and we'll slip the rift.

Kind of a trade-off, but a good one. If they all go on strike for
whatever reason, it'll relieve me of remembering to boycott them
for at least practicing politics. And maybe they could use a LOT more
practice in order to do their new jobs. Oh wait.. most of them suck.
