Trump to Fund Wall by US not Mexico

(CNN) President-elect Donald Trump's transition team has signaled to congressional Republican leaders that his preference is to fund the border wall through the appropriations process as soon as April, according to House Republican officials.

The move would break a key campaign promise when Trump repeatedly said he would force Mexico to pay for the construction of the wall along the border, though in October, Trump suggested for the first time that Mexico would reimburse the US for the cost of the wall.

Seems like Trump may have US fund border wall in hopes Mexico will repay us in the future (good luck with that). If this is true, you Trump supporters should be pissed.

He also said it would get done "fast".

I thought it was silly to keep insisting he'd make them pay for it.

I do recall seeing one about how he was going to take it from drug forfeitures, which has various implications. I'm not sure how that may or may not related to these so called "appropriations"?

This wall will be about as useful as that bridge to nowhere. What a colossal waste of effort and money.

All they have to do is cut all foreign aid and implement the tax on sending money he was proposing. Mexico won't be writing a check per se, but in a roundabout way they will actually be paying for it.

Border patrol agents say we need the wall, that's why they endorsed Trump so strongly. They know more about it than anyone on the planet, I'll take their advice on it. Hell, let the U.S. pay for it, FAR cheaper than all the handouts we will have to pay without it.

I predict no wall will ever get built.

What exactly is the point of a wall? Mexicans have ladders... And shovels.. Just seems so pointless.

Well by that logic why not go tear down all the spanses of walls and fences down there? Maybe ship the scrap to China so they can make us more throw away products.

This is the easiest route he doesn't have to have congress vote on a new wall. All he has to do is fund the previous law that congress all ready passed. As they say why reinvent the wheel. Obama removed funding for the mexico border wall and he figured out to get the wall built all he has to do is put back the funding.

By what logic? Is the point of a wall to keep them out or not? Because how could that possibly work? They just have not thought that through at all,

Walls cant even keep prisoners in prisons without armed guards.

I think most people care it gets built and arent worried about the particulars.

Its funny how CNN always focus on the negative aspects, he promised to build a wall, hes taking steps to see it gets done.

When was the last time any of you can remember a politician keeping even half of an election promise?

My attitude is.. If you want a wall you f ing pay for it..
Having said that, this wall will pay for itself with jobs created, tax dollars, contracts.. All putting money into the economy. Also a significant reduction in illegal immigrants and less effort patrolling the region.
And those who believe this wall will have no effect, you are completely wrong, this will make a significant difference.. Just look at other famous walls around the world I.e Palestine, Berlin etc.
