I've been renovating an 100+ year old building out in the mountains, with the goal of opening up a small restaurant to serve the small, local, population as well as those passing through.

Well... after six years of slowly working on it, spending all my money and quitting my day job, I finally opened.

Kinda put all my egg in one fragile basket. Why not go into the one industry that's super risky and even talented folks fail?!

I've been a cook/baker my entire life...learning the business side of things..taxes, etc, will be new. Oh joy!

Anyways...I'm just shouting this into the void.

Cheers

Congratulations! By the photos, it is certainly somewhere I'd enjoy spending time with friends and family. Lovely. All the best in your endeavor, and may $ucce$$ be your constant companion.

I appreciate it, y'all.

We've been open two weeks and have been super busy. We've been well received and the people have been great. We live in an area with a lot of bars but no place that a family can come in and bring their kids so folks seem to be really appreciative of our choice to not sell liquor. Beer and wine and a naturally leavened, sourdough, pizza. I hope to make a living and raise a family off it.

Thanks for the kind words everybody.

Is that a penny oven? It is incredibly cool looking. A conversation piece. I hope your local paper does a feature on the opening. A one-tank destination trip, for sure. Which mountains?

Yum. Good pizza is worth it's weight in gold.

I should build an oven in my back yard for those hot summer days. I bet pasties would taste great in that oven too.

I wonder who else even knows what pasties are!!

P.S. What is that in your avatar? It has puzzled me forever it seems.

Yeah, they're pennies. I was running out of money and tiles are expensive! Plus I like the look of it. Honest Abe is face up on all the pennies except one. My little joke to myself.

We're out by the big one, in Washington State. My town is tiny but there's a multitude within a 25 minute drive. So, here's to hoping.

I just want to do one thing really, really well. Like, build a baseball yard in the middle of my cornfield, well. Hopefully they'll come to us during the warm months.

Cheers all.
