The majority of people are not ATS members.
They watch the alphabet news channels and for them that is the reality of the world they live in.
You have people that will post MSM stories here and then some jerk off will come along and tell you
if you have any credible sources because they believe those news sites are biased and then turn face and tell you
to check out some story posted on infowars or breitbart as if it was the cradle of civilization.
I agree with you all news needs to be investigated.
I think the problem comes in with all the disinformation that's laid out there making coherent research
sometimes almost impossible. There is no such thing as conservatives and liberals..Those are just paradigms
that have been so warped and twisted from their original intentions and ideologies that they resemble more
what "elephant" would become after a game of telephone with 50 people.
Having the power of the internet is not only reserved for those that want to do good.

Think about it all the celebrity death hoaxes were started on twitter. so many hoaxes have started with just a stupid random tweet.

So why not crack down on the true source for almost all hoaxes?

The fact that MSM actually runs with unsubstantiated stories just goes to show that journalistic integrity is null across the board.

That makes them all fake news by proxy and just as guilty of it.

Twitter, Facebook, and any other social media site should be shut down. Before social media, weak minded people still remained mentally stable when their candidate lost an election.

Although i agree with you that social media is a crap source for news under most circumstances , how about we dont shutdown anything and let the people decide what they want to read.

That actually brings up an interesting point. Is a news aggregation site "fake news"? Because one could argue that ATS plays the role of one of those in many ways. It's not like ATS members are playing the role of citizen journalists and reporting fresh news or anything. 99% of the news topics on here are just reposts from other sources.

Though expanding on this, we also have the Social Media aspect of it being a forum too, and since there is no unbiased authority to point out what is chafe and what is real you are left up to your own critical thinking skills to decide what is real and what isn't. But you may also recognize this as the same thing that you are supposed to do when reading MSM news. So I'm truly perplexed on the gray area that ATS resides in with its media influence. Though I'm hesitant to call it a "fake news" site.

In other words, ban pranks and satire.
