The income threshold went up based on a formula in place for many years.

And?

Vulture Capitalists just loath those pesky raises the employees ask for darling.

Yea, that's why they are creating robots to make burgers. Let's hope the robots are better at making your sandwich without onions better than those demanding $15 an hour?

Pretty soon they'll have no customers because nobody will have the money for Corporate ghetto burgers. But that's ok, the Investor Class will pull their cash and invest in something else they can destroy. because all they do is Harvest, no work, no mind, just more money to stuff in their plush bottom seats.

couple of additional points to ponder:

- the value of the dollar is only 88% of what it was 8 years ago. Its lost 12% due to "inflation". This, despite a HUGE rebound in value over the last 2 years
- for anyone retiring today, they would have entered the workforce in 1970ish. Each dollar they put in savings then was worth 5.5 times more than it is today. I think it comes out to something like 19 cents. The rotting dollar means retirees suffer through a loss of overall value at a rate that they may or may not have been able to save faster than. But damn....522% inflation rate since 1970. One persons work career. How are you supposed to save for this?

So even if you were making 40k/year in 2008....that is only worth about 35k/year now. Those making minimum wage feel more like they are making 6.35.

Our Federal Government is given 3 jobs: protect our border, protect our markets, and protect our currency. Which of these 3 are they doing? And why do we talk about minimum wage increases when thats only a bandaid that covers up Uncle Sams failure in its 3 simple jobs?

So this is why US national debt doubled over 8 years. Too much welfare.

More people on welfare is a reflection of how many are unemployed, not, "too much welfare".

Or underemployed thanks to years of stagnant wages and an increase in part-time jobs (so companies can milk employees).

What's messed up is that many would measure this as a sign of success rather than a sign of deepening economic problems.

NO, what's messed up is that are many people (here on ATS as well) who blame those on welfare for being on welfare instead of a screwed up broken economy that sucks all capital upwards towards the exceptionally tax evading wealthy.

Trouble with a lot of US folks is that they have this dumb belief that everyone can reach that aspiration of wealth if they just try........utter utter BS.

More Fun for Democrats Under the Last 8 Years Under a Obama Administration.....

" President Obama claims he could have won a third term if he had been allowed to run, but many Democrats in down ballot races haven’t been as successful during Obama’s presidency.
Democrats lost a total of 1,042 seats at the state and federal level, including congressional and state legislative seats, governorship's, and the presidency, Fox News reported.

Obama’s popularity failed to bring support for his allies. Although Hillary Clinton brought out the first family for numerous campaign appearances, the country voted for President-elect Donald Trump.

The presidency wasn’t the only place that saw a partisan change since Obama took office in 2009.

Democratic U.S. Senate seats dropped from 55 to 46, their share of House seats fell from 256 seats to 194, and Democratic governorship's fell from 28 to 16, according to figures from "......... Ballotpedia.

When it comes to Spending the Tax Payers Money , President In Thief Obama is Also the Champion Of Debt ....

" President Barack Obama added roughly $7.917 to America’s national debt, which amounts to a 68 percent increase from the $11.657 trillion debt level President George W. Bush accrued by the end of his presidency. "

He would have won easily in a 3rd term. Look at the competition. No one wanted to vote for either of them. I think Stalin could have won it, too.

The majority was sick of his lies and failed policies that would have continued uninterrupted under Hillary.

The reason she lost was Obama.

You're conflating several different subject of interest here.

I don't blame welfare recipients for using a system they've been forced into. That was the point of the policies regarding welfare for the last 8 years.

The tax system in the US the most complicated system of laws ever devised and continues to grow in complexity as the years pass by. Those who can navigate the system seem to do pretty well. But I don't go and blame everyone who avoids taxes by making use of the code as written.

Avoiding taxes and evading them are two different things.

Capital doesn't come from taxation. Capital comes from savings. We've been inflating our currency for a century and people wonder why we always have discussions on the minimum wage, or personal debt, or the fact that almost no one has savings in any form. Inflation guarantees this will continue to be the case so long as we allowed it to continue.

Lastly, you're absolutely right. But not for the reasons you think. There is a growing number of Americans who believe that rather than changing the dynamics of our currency, simplifying the tax code, and encouraging fiscal responsibility is less palatable than the instant gratification that government created inflation and credit brings.

Until those things change, until we change, these issues will only get worse.

Under Trump 32% more people are gonna go hungry because this new administration doesn't give two blanks about other people. It isn't their fault there are 20 million less jobs in this country since Obama took office. At least they didn't starve under Obama, under Trump they very likely will.

The reason she lost was

- she's not been well liked since forever
- Benghazi
- email server criminal behavior (to be fair, Caspar Weinberger got away with an egregious faux pas with top secret info and should be prosecuted, too)
- overthrowing Gadaffi and wholly bungling the recovery
- completely mishandling the exit from Iraq in which she ignored our military leaders
- I have no idea what she screwed up with Russia...but almost immediately after she engaged them politically, they invaded Crimea and launched Cold War V2.0

I'd add in the Arab Spring, but it actually ended up better in many ways, at least in Egypt.
