No the past doesn't matter. But the credentials are still questionable. The point I'm trying to make is that snopes should definitely NOT be the authority in fact checking as mainstream makes them out to be. As an example; ATS has far more credibility than snopes does.

The other point I wanted to make is that they have no experience in journalism nor in investigation. So why should snopes be the authority in fact checking? If snopes is the authority then I name myself the authority of all topics in the world.

Super well said! The internet is a university. The Ultimate freedom, it is why many of us are addicted to it. Those who are savy enough can even get info through the deep web and uncensored. The tools we have now , we can check who is who. background check on whos giving what information.

The point is to resist being naive, and follow your morals.

But my brother, you also know evil exist, and those who fall in those lines of what we would call evil usually do not have the best interests of others, except themselves. It is time to draw the line somewhere, and take the moral high ground for those who wish it.

What i don't get is, it is easy to discern between truth and fiction. usually compassion, love and empathy shows the way. But why is this so hard to understand? The way I see it, morals, love, truth and compassion usually leads the way into what I call, the true Golden Path.

Well that is very well said. We should ALL be arbiters of truth and have a say, THAT is the point. Snopes has no right to monopolize what is truth or what is not. Sometimes there are different opinions and different ways to solve problems. It is not just all black and white, so I agree. We should all have a say (in other words.) Part of true democracy should be based on debates and differing opinions so everyone can have a chance to have a voice. And not be labeled(Or censored) upon doing so.

The problem I have with snopes is the promotion of it as being the top authority when everyone should have a say. Here we have two (three with the ex wife, hope her anger leads her to expose snopes in the end) people who we really know nothing about, telling us what is true and what is not, while mainstream media promotes them as the top authority in fact checks.

Sorry but this is bull and I wont buy it. This is just another way to censor the alternative media as well as whistle blowers. Which i wouldnt be surprised if in the future they end up calling Julian assange as a hoax. when we know full well he is legit.

You gave me something to ponder on

truth is a generally accepted outcome or reasoning while fact is a proven truth...in other words every Fact is True but not all Truths are facts. Example 1+1=2 is a fact (only one result proven truth), but 2=1+1 is true but not fact(infinite result as 2=1x2,2=6-4,2=2+0 to infinity.

I'm not a fan of Snopes, but just because someone has a questionable past isn't reason to question the work they do now.

You'll have to work harder than that to discredit them, like actually prove that the information they provide is incorrect, rather than just attack their character.
