Obama said he could have beat Trump if he could have ran again. And the Mitch McConnell was the reason his brand of hope and change was obscured. I don't think so.
He is so confident that his vision properly articulated, by him that even people who disagree with him would agree that his vision is the right one. Full of himself.

Obama said he could have won a third therm, had the constitution allowed him to run. He said this on the Axe Files to David Axelrod.

Outgoing President says he believes he could have defeated Trump had the Constitution allowed him to run again.

Outgoing U.S. President Barack Obama believes that he could have defeated Donald Trump and won a third term in office had the Constitution allowed him to run again.

Speaking on Monday to his former senior adviser, David Axelrod, on his “Axe Files” podcast and quoted by Politico, Obama said he still believes in the message of “hope and change” he campaigned on in 2008.
www.israelnationalnews.com...

Obama thinks he could have mobilized the people behind his vision. He has had conversations with people around the country, even ones who disagree with him think his vision is the right one.
Of course he couldn't get anything done because of Mitch McConnell, his obstruction was the reason Obama's hope and change was obscured.

“I am confident in this vision because I’m confident that if I — if I had run again and articulated it, I think I could’ve mobilized a majority of the American people to rally behind it,” he said. “I know that in conversations that I’ve had with people around the country, even some people who disagreed with me, they would say the vision, the direction that you point towards is the right one.”

Obama further blamed Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for Republicans’ obstruction throughout his entire administration, an effort which he argued was meant to obscure the hope and change he campaigned on by rejecting his policies outright and creating stagnation.

Nope, he is surrounded with yes men, so everything is super duper.

Soon he will start to knock down $300,000 for 45 minute speeches like the rest of them.

They'd elect him for life if they could, just like republican's would have with Reagan.

Well lets see how he would of done in the conspiracy thinker part of the nation.

My vote. Trump.

How would you guys vote. It would be a great way to get, at least somewhat, of a number going. If everyone that visited this thread would just cast your vote here, we would have some, kind of form of an idea.

Trump would just grab him by the ding ding during the debates.
In regards to the question, I would not have voted for him. And I voted for him in '08 and '12. His 3rd term would have been disastrous for the constitution.

I agree, the people were sick of the world being more dangerous.

The president making racially insensitive comments.

The president dithering.

Plus he backed Hillary, she was a very unpopular candidate, and lost.

People were sick of his distrust of law enforcement.

Good enough thread to at least bump, seasonal.

The reasons I believe Trump would have beaten Obama
were few, but translatable to any Democratic candidate.

Bad economy, poorer job picture than the beginning of term
(in total ignorance of media and gov manipulation of the
yardstick)... and worst of all a foreign policy that has been
the worst train wreck in the last hundred years.

I think the media also did a good job of OD-ing on the Kool
Aid themselves; and seemed to at the 11th hour believe
their own BS. It couldn't have gone well in the US even if
they and the DNC succeeded in cheating the Dems enough .

I hope I'm not the only one who checks in that feels the Change
was only for the worse in 2009, and won't pound me too hard.
Like why is this night different from any other: Happy Solstice
mandatory nonworking Interval...

Are you suggesting that Trump or Obama are homosexual?

Do you think that his 2 terms were good?

I remember the I don't have all the facts, but the police acted stupidly.
I knew we were in trouble when someone makes a statement like that.

For a guy that platformed with a smooth delivery and little
more than charisma for a resume list, I'll give you that one
too.
I also remember at least one interview/monologue where he
mentioned 'the Constitution' and 'the rule of law' in the same
packet of drivel.. and I got instant daytime acid reflux goopage.
Yeah hypocrisy for a resume booster. That'll work too.

Obama absolutely could have landslided Trump. in 2012, the people were fed up with the government, yet totally went out for Obama.
He can move crowds. That is what Clinton failed to do. She was about as inspirational as a dishrag..and thats what makes people get off their ass and go vote. Obama never could get people to go out and vote for other candidates, but for himself, he had no issue at all.

Rockstars can get you to go to their concerts, but they cant make you like their favorite band.

Now, would have a 3rd term Obama been good? probably not. it would have been another 2-4 years of lame duck sessions and gridlock.

I don't get the feeling that there is to much humility in him. And it is a different kind of no humility than Trump, becasue Trump is with out humility too.

The difference is Trump is successful at something other than politics. But still a sort of likeable jerk.

I don't get the same feeling from Obama or his wife for that matter.

We will see if I am still Ok with Trump in a couple of years.

Not relevant to the question/topic, and it can be spun in any direction you want.

You know the expression, there are lies, damn lies, and statistics.

The question of this thread that is looming is, could he have gotten a 3rd term.
answer is simply yes. His popularity rating is still through the roof when compared to either Clinton or Trump.

Is Justin Beiber a solid musician worthy of the popularity he gets?...

I gave Obama a try in 08, didnt really like what he did, so went back to voting libertarian like I usually do.

He would have performed better than Hillary - probably would have been close. He might very well have won. Its the centrist voters that decide these elections.

He would have. He would have beat Trump into a non-entity and knew how to do it, easily. In that scenario, Obama would have won hands down.

Sadly, that scenario is impossible here. We are getting a Kardashian-like presidency and a lot of you will LIKE it.
