"Christian" leaders are crying about a film.

Christian leaders are warning followers of the faith to steer clear of the upcoming Christian fiction flick The Shack, arguing if the film follows a “faithful portrayal” of author Willam P. Young’s book, it will “smear the evangelical understanding” of the Bible.

Now I understand that "Muslim" leaders would also be up in arms if roles were reversed, possibly to the point of advocating violence, so save the preachy bullsh*t for someone else.

I just thought this could bring an interesting discussion.

Joe Schimmel, the pastor of Blessed Hope Chapel in Simi Valley, California, told Christian News Network the “pretentious caricature” of god as a fat black woman is “dangerous and false.”

Dangerous how, is my question.

Schimmel similarly insisted Young’s refusal to say god will “pour our his wrath on unrepentant sinners” makes his depiction of god in The Shack especially dangerous.

Yes, gotta push that fear.

Who gives a crap...if god gave us free will than it's safe to say we can make god look like whatever we choose...Such a fragile religion that some peoples faith gets rattled so easily...just like politics...

Looks like the racist in him can't handle God being a fat black woman.

God came to Moses as a burning bush..... I don't see the issue.

Personally for me GOD will always be Morgan Freeman.
I don't think anyone can top his performance.
George Burns is a close second.

I see nothing wrong with it at all.....gotta get that diversity in there! Jesus will probably be gay and the Virgin Mary a lesbian...that should win the film maker a place at the BAFTA's

To your point this is about as "dangerous" as a bowl of whipping cream...

Make a movie about Mohamed being a woman or cast Allah as a fat black woman and see what actual danger is...

Mankind is made in the image of God I thought. So why in the world can't god appear in any damn human form desired?

How can you describe anything pertaining to Christianity as "false"? Isn't that redundant?

True words brother.
There is only one god, and he looks like Morgan Freeman!!! (also is the defacto president should a extinction level meteor be heading towards earth)

By all means, make a movie about Mohamed being a woman...
Heck, just draw a picture of him and see how that works out...

Islamists have about the same sense of humor as cancer...

OMG SOOOO TRUE....He's played the president in two movies where the world ends to my knowledge..

HAHAHAHA

If we ever meet we're going for tequila until Morgan Freeman shows up to tell us he has given us the ALMIGHTY powers.

If your faith is so easily shaken to the core, were you as faithful as you thought then?

Why would anyone version of a being none of us have yet to met, be the subject of arguments? And why doesn't anyone argue about what color god's car is? Or which artist they like most?

Why does it even matter is the bigger issue?

Freedom of Religion an all.

I always pictured God as an angry middle eastern guy. Oh well.

God is above and beyond human body weight, race, and gender.

To portray God as an anthropomorphic aged white male is just as "dangerous and false".

edit on 12/21/16 by Sahabi because: (no reason given)

Doesn't work for me. I couldn't fit the image of God during prayer, as a big fat woman into my head, no matter how hard I squeezed.

You sound very bigoted towards Christians for some reason.

Yes, gotta push that hate.
