Ladybaby, the band you'll never tell anyone you listen to

Yet another chapter in the unerringly catchy kuwaii-core genre, ala Baby Metal, is LadyBaby. If you look closely you might notice that the taller girl in the band ...is actually a man! Odds are based on the preview you're already expecting this to be an utter trainwreck of a song/video but you just might be pleasantly surprised. Yes, the lyrics are ridiculous (it's about Japanese donuts) ...yes, one singer is an Australian pro-wrestler dressed up as a Japanese teenager ...yet oddly enough it all just works in a weird sort of way. Anyway, SaturnFX cued me onto this in his amusing Baby Metal Support Group thread and it's been in my playlist ever since and it's too much fun not to share!

I guess this thread wouldn't be proper without paying homage to the "OG's" of the genre, Baby Metal. These gals are selling out 60,000 seat arenas in Japan and will be opening for Guns n' Roses on their Japanese tour later this year.

I'm pretty open to almost all music styles, not sure I can get into this. Do they happen to play Pizza party's?

Ok, so my wife actually listens to japanese rock (rock not this kid metal stuff), but this is just weird. Young Japanese women singing about the advantages of capitalism while promoting just about everything and complaining that they can't get any of it all at the same time as some big hairy guy dressed as a high-school girl screams about the mountain behind them . . . yeah this is weird stuff.

I was sad when I heard Lady Beard left the group.

The Japanese are really one f***** up load of people!!!! Saw a program once where a restaurant waitresses were dressed as little dolls, acted like little children and made the customers act like little dolls. It was an adult restaurant and it was fully booked months in advance. The Japanese are full on with these scenarios in their leisure time they call it role play.
If you happen to see any of their game shows they go way, way over the top. But then again they love it. Fair play.

I figured the food party weirdos would hone in on this. Personally, I often wonder if those who are fixated on turning everything into some perverted pedo reference are just reflecting on their own inner demons. Myself? I find their music catchy and their offbeat videos fun to watch ...seeing as the two videos posted are at 16 & 64 million views apparently I'm not the only one. Grow the f#ck up, any normal well-adjusted adult can see these videos are for entertainment and not arousal.

If you ever go to Japan you'll be surprised at the amount of comics, toys and games that are produced just for adults (and I don't mean pornography either) there are millions.
What I am trying to get over is simply is a lot of Japanese adults in their spare time live in fantastic fantasy worlds, they dress up and act out their fantasies.

I was actually reacting to posts a couple up from yours, no objections at all with what you said. In fact what you're pointing out is what I think certain posters aren't considering, that culture, dress, etc is different in Japan.

My rant was because this food party bs is getting really old, when things get to the point where you can't share a perfectly innocent (odd? yes ...perverted, not at all) music video without it being met with tongue-in-cheek references to pedophilia, that's just f-ed up. Not everyone is a perverted pedo you know.
