Sweden plans to reintroduce compulsory military 2019

In Scandinavia we been taught a few set of words in peace time;" The Russian is Coming ." I did compulsory military service, like many other who were born in the same year, but during the late 90:s something changed, and im not sure if it was for the better or worse.

The Swedish military was deassembled, they were going for the American style apparatus, a professional army, for better or worse. The reason Sweden had compulsory military service to begin with for almost 100 years, was not only to defend its borders, but also teach kids to become men, learn your obligations, to work in a group, to be on time and many other things. It takes about 12-18 months to form something useful in society.

The major problem with the American style version, its inhumane and in country were the people are socialists,where they teach each other to embrace the humane, all of a sudden they had to look out for themselves, its a recipe for conflicts and catastrophic consequences.
It seemed like a great idea pitched by a few, what happened in the end. They ones who pitched the idea, were placed on the gallows by the people.

A mess built on 20 years of ideals, ideas, hope and humanity, were exploited by those who understood anything is up for grabbing. But now its up to the people to fix the mess those who were put in place by people with only their self interest.

The Scandinavian country, which has not seen armed conflict on its territory in two centuries, ended conscription after it was deemed an unsatisfactory way of meeting the needs of a modern army.

“I hope that we are going to find a path to a more stable, robust and functional means of recruitment,” the defence minister, Peter Hultqvist, said.

The policy will affect Swedes born after 1999, according to a report by a former member of parliament for the defence ministry. The measure is expected to be adopted by parliament, subject to agreement between the leftist government and the centre-right opposition.

Approximately 4,000 18-year-olds of both sexes are expected to be called up each year.

Both genders will do mandatory military service, and i believe its for the better.

If more Scandinavian countries followed, i believe it could work for the whole Scandinavian region in positive way. Im hoping Norway will follow.

Good for them. they see their weak men have created a scenario that will bring hard time and require strong men for the future. Mandatory military for a couple years (for both genders) is a good thing. brings back patriotism, pride, etc.

We have compulsory military here in Brazil as well, despite the fact that our last war was 150 years ago and no upcoming ones in the foreseeable future.

But it does indeed teach discipline and respect, among other stuff.

A far more immediate threat given it's Sweden, is Islam infiltrating their military ranks.

If Sweden had someone like Trump leading the country, they'd be far safer. It's the liberals who turned that country into the rape capital of Europe.

I wonder if this is more of a "Covert" action to surrepticiously cull all the recent Muslim immigrants OUT of Sweden....knowing full well most of them wont want to fight for Sweden, even if they are "Citizens".
Interesting to see what develops.
Could be a ruling, if you (young men) dont join the required national service, for the country, You will be deported to whence you came.

May be a way to get the rats off the sinking ship, to make it float again.

I would suggest their reasons for this is that its a way of dealing with the immigrant problem, at least in part and at the same time I think they can see war, either internal or external, is coming into view.
