The heat and sand are a bad combination for a sound rational mind to prevail.

You do know that the pyramids are right on Cairo's doorstep? Seem's like the heat and sand didn't affect the locals until others started sticking their nose's in.

"look I've got 5 home's and my opinion mean's something" LOL...you now nothing about the real world.

Haters gonna hate. Egypt use to be the largest kingdom on the planet. Their structures and riches even today are marveled at by all.

We made it into the kingdom of slavery it is today, we made it a dustbowl of misery.

For Egypt its not about resources as much as control of the Suez Canal.

The ME is a desert toilet and most of its inhabitants are f.ck.d in the head.

you do realize that we the people of the ME are humans like you dont you, and would love to live in peace too.

The heat and sand are a bad combination for a sound rational mind to prevail.

well we have managed to survive this combination for thousands of years and made it to this day

The world would be a better place today if the desert ME had remained that way! Tell what good comes out of the desert and what good ever came out of the ME, oil?, Well look at the damage that has done!!

what a hateful thing to say about people you never met before.

That's very perceptive of you, NOT! I am an extremely well traveled BRIT. By the way I don't live in the UK either and have lived on all continents, lived in Asia for 10 years, now reside in Spain and travel for 10 weeks every year! I also have homes in three countries! Get my drift!!!

good for you to have traveled to so many countries, but have you been to my country the UAE ? im pretty sure its one of the countries that you call the ME, yes it used to be a desert but look at it now after 45 years, its full of generous peaceful people.

again, criminals come in different kinds, some are individuals, some are groups, some are leaders of countries.
Some of you! I didn't say all by the way! But a large majority aren't fit to be so. Your human rights records are shocking. If there were no middle east the world would be a better place right now!

Cradle that ended up being the biggest toilet on the planet and now a massive threat to the survival of mankind that has now evolved into a situation that virtually guarantees the streets of all nations will now be unsafe for our children and women! Don't talk to me about BS, are you so naive and blind that you can't see the festering sick uncultivated mind of those that originate from the ME and its legacy beliefs! Open your eyes and ears to the mess that I personally and friends have seen develop over the last 50 years! The so called cradle of civilisation never became civil, that was left to those outside the ME!! Watch the future and you will be enlightened to what the truth is about! Drip comes to mind!

All the proof you need is on the news mainstream or alternative. Just look at what ME countries and peoples are doing to each other and spreading their sickness/terror beyond! "Dude" says it all! ME is a toilet that's now sh.tt.ng on our streets and that you cannot deny. However, denial is a very common trait of those who have sympathies with sick ideologies!

A couple of things about this report.. In many cities in S.E. Asia all the rubbish/trash bins were removed from the streets due to being a convenient place to place a bomb.

Since when is Egypt in SE Asia? Last I checked, it was still located in N Africa.

I'm no journalist, but I find the interjected tidbit about the "thousands of British tourists" strange and inappropriate to the reporting of the event. A bit coarse, really.

It's a British news reporting agency, which people around the world may, of course, access. But it's designed to cater to British citizens. If some U.S. (or other-"insert nation of origin for any news station here") news source was reporting, they might comment on how this story effects it's own citizens...which is all the express.co.ukwas doing.

I hope that helps to explain the presence of the particular comment you were referring to. Does it STILL sound strange and inappropriate? If so, please elaborate further. Otherwise, have a nice day!

Actually, it wasn't always a desert. But yeah, I get what you are saying. It seems a little strange that people would stay there after the desertification, but I guess some people feel an attachment to what they consider their homeland, or the land of their ancestors, or "holy land".

As an aside, going from your "if the desert ME had remained that way" remark... I wonder, how it would effect the culture, and political climate if it had remained fertile and green, as it was in the ancient past.

Going off topic into "speculation and wild tangent-land" in... 3... 2... 1... ----->
Also, reminds me of the garden of Eden story. Gods way of kicking people out of the garden...maybe he turned it into a desert as a way to force people out? The "angel with a blazing sword" that guards the "entrance to the garden", could that be a representation of the blazing heat that makes the area near uninhabitable? You can still enter the geographical area...but you cannot enter "the garden". I know...it remained fertile afterwards for centuries, perhaps millennia, after the story of the garden of eden, and humans remained in the fertile area, but it could still just be a mark for the time when desertification began, as in, it's fate was sealed. Just thinking out loud. Feel free to ignore

I get what you're saying, and I don't mean this as a way to bolster or support that member's statements... it more goes with what I was just saying in my last post:
So you're saying that, since the pyramids were built there, the sand and heat didn't effect their minds since they were able to build such magnificent structures? But, during the time the pyramids were built, was it such a desert? Or did Egypt and the Giza Plateau lie completely outside of the fertile crescent?

Perhaps he meant this to say that, perhaps it would be wise for areas such as Egypt which are so commonly effected by terrorism, to follow the example of the "many cities in S.E. Asia". Then again, maybe not.

Also, what has that done, in S.E. Asia, for the problem of litter? I understand that exploding bombs is a greater concern than a gum wrapper or cigarette butt... I was just curious though.

It astounds me that some people will elaborately comment on places they have never been, people they have never met and with utter ignorance of the geography, geology and cultures of the very places they spit venomous disinfo on. This is not freakin facebook or twitter, so I wish that crap would just cease because this board should be respected for the otherwise great content that it certainly contains. Just my 2 flaming centavos.

Your point wasn't lost on me from the beginning of it. It just seems so damn inconsequential and selfish. For instance, have you ever tried carrying on a conversation with someone who, no matter what, found a way to make the conversation about themselves? It's tacky and rude but above all its just plain sad.

Not so sure if this was an attempt at killing tourists ... tourism brings in badly needed income to these countries. Probably the age old Sunni vs Shiite religious crap. That is why most ME countries that had / have stability were / are ruled with an iron fist by dictators ( Saddam, Qaddafi etc ). Seems to be the only way they can keep the lid on the boiling kettle.
