How did they know how to drive it?

Back in the 60s they were developing areas around our home. They also began work on highway 5 a half block away. We used to climb up into the giant earth movers and tractors, and look under the seat for a key. We would start the engines, and begin pulling levers uintil we figured out what each one did. Soon we were driving around scooping the ground . On guy drove a giant grader into the river a few blocks away. Im sure he got in trouble, but we never got caught

D-8 is a big dozer. My dad was an operator/engineer & I had the chance to drive one of those. I also got to operate a whole host of big equipment. If Detroit is as bad as all you all make it out. It wouldn't surprise me if they stole it just for a ride home. I have always questioned how " bankrupt" & "broke" Detroit is.....after all they support 4 major sports franchises. Red Wings are even in a new arena, Tigers enjoy 85% fill in their stadium, Pistons, 98%, Lions 96% and Red Wings are 99% in theirs....Just how broke & bankrupt can Detroit be?? Only one is outside the city limits of Detroit....Pistons I think.
