The left wants to ban fake news because they are the idiots that fell for it

The left knows their own supporters cant discern real news from fake news and they think it is why they lost the election.

Its obvious it was the left that fell for it because the right was gonna vote right anyway. So why didnt alot of the normal left states go left?

Because they believed the "fake news" and decided to change their vote or not vote at all .

Their "leaders" realize this and know they will just keep falling for it in the future like a bunch of morons so they are going to crusade to get it banned..

This seems like a crusade against free speech.

We have had fake news for alot longer then the internet has been around. supermarket tabloids have been around forever spreading fake news .

Because alot of the fake news had to do with HRC. So now its a problem.

I was going to comment about how it isn't the left who were taken in so easily by fake news, but then I saw where you just described the moon landing as fake news.

Not exactly. The left knows they failed to control the flow of information. "Real" or "fake" actually has nothing to do with it.

They want the power to ban "fake news", but they also want to appoint themselves as arbiter of what constitutes "fake news". "Fake news" will be defined as "anything that doesn't agree with what they are saying."

They just rebrand things from time to time to create newfound outrage for things we've already known about.

The internet helped spread the conspiracies, yes. So did popular TV culture, the X-files and early 90's TV. Heck I remember paranormal based kids shows.

I doubt anyone considered the moon landings fake in 1969, I mean come on... Every nation with radars and radio antennas were watching something clearly go to the moon and sending/receiving communications.

The Soviets would have humiliated the US if there was even the slightest hint it was faked.

No, the fake news is theres a left and a right. Ideologues aside, the fake newsers really want the truth banned.

The same way the Nazis wanted any opposing ideology banned. The didn't have the internet so they burned books. It always begins this way. Those who start burning books end up burning people.

It means nothing like that to me, I consider myself left-leaning.

At the end of the day if something smells funny I usually don't consume it. As a human with the ability to think I consider it common sense to not believe everything I read. Propaganda is properganda regardless of origin.

I'm a firm believer in freedom of speech too but people reporting news have a duty and should uphold standards. Again regardless of political leanings.

I think this crusade is mainly headed by the MSM.

Right or left most people were exposed to the blatant biased the media had this cycle. Most have been aware for some time, but we're all human and sometimes a little lean slips through, but it was far worse this time.

Also these media outlets would find something online that was sensational and run it without vetting it properly then get caught with their pants down.

So now many people have shaken up their information mix, my guess is TV will be left out of many peoples mix in the coming years.

My prediction is they will make the internet one way from the top down, just like information used to be. TV newspapers and radio were the only unchallenged source of the 'real' news.

It goes like this, for example. One day all Youtube videos will belong to the big media corporations and they will all say "Comments section disabled". Unless its about smurfs and fairies and you are on the unbanned list to comment.

I think Pandora's box has truly been opened as far as our new information renaissance. If they tried to suppress it, they may be successful for a short time, but that would just speed up a revolution. The Wests soil has been dry of blood for some time. Should they implement vast censorship the tree of liberty will get thirsty.

So if something is real and it hurts them it's fake, but if they say something that isn't real it's OK and we are supposed to believe it.
They are the kids on the playground that want to change the rules when they are loosing .....and now that more people are seeing the true ways they operate ,they are panicking .

It was a penalty of death to listen to other than National radio broadcasts in Germany during WWII. My mom grew up under Nazi rule. She says they had to turn the radio down real low, all the neighbors gathered round in the kitchen to catch the English radio broad casts.

That will be illegal information once its been banned. The cops always take your electronics when they raid your house, even now.

Places like NSA at Ogden Utah, are recording every key stroke.
