The Obama administration is warning Americans not to cast blame on Muslims after a student at Ohio State University launched an attack on innocent civilians that was likely inspired by Islamic State terrorists.

“Our response to this situation matters,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest explained to reporters during the press briefing. “If we respond to this situation by casting aspersions on millions of people that adhere to a particular religion or if we increase our suspicion of people who practice a particular religion, we are more likely going to contribute to acts of violence than we are to prevent them.”

I'm going to be delighted when there's finally a U.S. presidential administration that can be honest about Islam. Trump has pointed this point out before.

Obama "disgracefully refused to even say the words 'Radical Islam'," Trump said in a statement Sunday. "For that reason alone, he should step down. If Hillary Clinton, after this attack, still cannot say the two words 'Radical Islam' she should get out of this race for the Presidency."

Obama will not use the words "radical Islam"...it works as a form of mind control. If you don't use the words, then you can wipe the concept from existence...in a sense. The problem doesn't go away; only your awareness of it goes away.

This is, in a substantial way, why the next president is Trump.

The pendulum swung way too far to the left/PC side.... so a drastic correction was needed.

The left is always too preoccupied with "potential" backlash against "good Muslims" so they are unable to comprehend there is such a thing as "bad" ones.

I'm not sure why the Ministry of what to think is going on the front foot in an attempt to shield / ignore / hide the elephant in the room? I think Americans and anyone else with 2 eyes and a brain can see the forest through the trees. Alarm bells should start ringing when the government insists you interpret an event only one way despite any evidence to the contrary.

Please somebody enlighten me as to what the agenda is here because for the life of me, I can't figure out what the hell blaming a religion of 1.7 billion people is supposed to accomplish?

What do you want? What do you hope to achieve?

"We need to have discussion!" is a common nonsensical response I see. We're having plenty of discussions... about how we can't have discussions.

What is it you expect to happen?

I'll start with you since this is your thread. Here's what you said:

What do you consider being "honest about Islam" exactly? What will this "being honest about Islam" accomplish?

This pretty much sums up my thoughts as well. I don't know why but I know I am not surprised by Obama's reaction, the denial is strong with that one.

I don't think he has any plans to disappear unfortunately as he already stated he plans on staying in Washington and pandering to the fake news to denounce anything Trump does that he doesn't agree with which I am guessing will be pretty much everything.

Lucky us (sarcasm).......

I think that at least Trump isn't afraid to call it exactly what it is. A bastardized form of Islam that fully believes that all "infidels" must convert or die.

The muslim president needs to shut the hell off and move to the middle east with his brothers in arms.

He is nothing but a joke, I can not wait to see him leave once and for all.

What do I expect to happen? How about a searching, rigorous, and extensive vetting process for a start? Maybe a term of isolation from the mainstream community and observation before sending them out to possibly harm US citizens for another?

Do you really NOT see the hypocrisy of the left?
What is wrong with having a discussion, isn't that what the left wants with other "groups"? (BLM for example)

Can we not point out the difference in Islam and Radical Islam? Would this not in fact stop some of the hate towards allIslam? Ignoring something does not make it go away, it makes you stupid for not facing and dealing with the issues.

It's not simply about the backlash against the 99.99999999% of Muslims in America. The more we other people, the more they are likely to become radicalized. The more that become radicalized, the more acts of terrorism there will be. Then what? More blaming Islam?

Repeat until the animosity reaches the level that people are demanding a holy war?

How far do we take it? When the dead are in the tens of thousands? Hundreds of thousands? Millions? What's the plan?

Nobody was blaming all 1.7 billion muslims for the actions of this one individual.

But the Obama administration is suggesting that by blaming radical islam, or even discussing radical islam in the context of terrorism, we are facilitating the spread of terrorism.

From the White House:

If we respond to this situation by casting aspersions on millions of people that adhere to a particular religion or if we increase our suspicion of people who practice a particular religion, we are more likely going to contribute to acts of violence than we are to prevent them.

Loosely translated:

Don't be mean to muslims and terrorism will go away.

The Obama administration is attempting to shut down any discussion before it takes place. And to that I will respond by quoting Sublimecraft's post because he's a lyrical mother#ing genius (even more than Kanye!) when it comes to articulating his point:

Alarm bells should start ringing when the government insists you interpret an event only one way despite any evidence to the contrary.

It makes it easier to start a war against them when everyone gets blamed instead of just blaming the people responsible. Hitler did the same thing with the Jews.

What is it you expect to happen?

Easy war.

What are you even takling about? Who is "ignoring something" this has got to be the dumbest f'ing thing I hear CONSTANTLY.

Who is it that doesn't know that radical Islamic terrorists are *gasp* committing acts of terror? Who?

What is wrong with having a discussion

Exactly. It's funny that you can have a discussion about not having a discussion half a million times. Out with it already. Say what it is that you want to say. What exactly is preventing you from having your discussion?

America is not Europe, in America we will never let radicals take over and I am sure that those that have no links to terrorism will take care of the radicals too.

Dude, ISIS could claim any crime done by a Muslim inside the USA.

It doesn't mean they had anything whatsoever to do with it.

Call it like it is. No one is blaming Islam. The blame is towards radical Islam. You can't address the problem if you can't even admit to its root cause. Islam in general including many aspects of sharia law are not compatible with western society. They are raised to hate and despise the way we live. Normal Islam is tolerant in most respects. Radical Islam is not. Americans define the moral standard in this country through our own traditions and ethical standards. If others come to our country and don't respect our standards then they are not welcome.
