ANGELA MERKEL today announced plans to deport 100,000 migrants who arrived in Germany last year as she continues to backtrack on her controversial open door asylum policy.

The beleaguered Chancellor said authorities would significantly step up the rate of forced returns as she battles to arrest an alarming slump in her popularity which has fuelled a surge in support for the far-right.

Her extraordinary change of heart has been prompted largely by a series of catastrophic local election results for her ruling Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party, which was trounced by the populist Alternative fur Deutschland in both her home state and the capital Berlin.

I'm actually kind of impressed.

Typically, politicians dont care about the people's opinions, not in the US anyway.

And even when Representatives do take a stand, as they did with the first vote on the banker bailouts under Bush (for example), they eventually do as theyre told.

But is it too little too late for Merkel?

Only time will tell.

I think it's too little too late for Germany and Europe in general. 100k is not going to make a dent in the flood of "refugees" that came pouring in and they know it. Nothing but empty political posturing in an attempt to save her job.

Turkey's decided to play hardball over its membership of the EU threatening to release the refugees on Europe.
This sounds like a response...

I'll believe it when I see it.

Is this story in any other paper or just the Express?

Absolute hogwash, majority of these migrants have gone underground.. She has been a total failure for the German people and because of her you now have any number of undocumented people roaming around with god knows what agenda... Stupid at best and down right dangerous at worst, the islamificaton of Europe is well underway..

Pathetic.

This is just a last ditch attempt to win favour with the voters before the election.

It won't work though, she and her party will be swept from power along with all the other Pro-EU hacks in Europe next year.

Which is funny because there won't be an EU for them to join soon. Partly helped along by decisions as these.

I don't believe its her bowing to the will of The People, more trying to preserve her own neck.

As an aside, nobody seems to think of the damage this charade of the last few years has done for people who are/may become genuine refugees. The way the topic has been polarised, many people who would have been understanding of genuine refugees have had their views coloured by the influx of economic migrants and, well, less than deserving 'refugees'.

Too little for Merkel, too little for citizens of any European country, too little for genuine refugees that would not be safe elsewhere, too little too damn late for any sensible person of any political ideals.

Her backtracking will have given the Alternative for Germany party an even bigger boost than her pigheadedness of her previous stances did.

Alongside Merkel Clinton looks relatively sane. They do have a lot in common though, both elderly insane ugly feminists, closet lesbians, with Muslim rape fantasies for themselves and their countrywomen, that wish to destroy their country and hate the principles and people that built them.

To be fair to her, it was not her fault that these people were displaced from their original residences by war, economic collapse, or both.

The drivers for nearly the entire migration from the Middle East and North Africa, have their roots in US and UK meddling both militarily and economically, in the nations from which these migrants come. Making Merkel the scapegoat for that is hardly a legitimate position to take.

All just hot air.

Already now they have huge problems with bringing people back to the country of origin:

Northafrican countries just won't take their own people back. So thousands of Northafricans are in Germany illegally (no asylum in some cases, felonies in others.)

Then there is the rule that people cannot be brought back to 'unsafe countries'. So if for imstance somebody from Syria is in Germany and broke all laws (not only immigration laws) they cant send him back to Syria, since it s unsafe.

Add all those who are not even registered and those who are registered but went underground.

And meanwhile Erdogan is threatening to flood Europe even more with refugees from Syria.

Some of those refugees are not bad, but a lot of them have different ways of life and it is hard for them to adapt to living in another society. Also, it opened the door for radicals to enter their country mixed in with the regular refugees. The radicals probably will be hard to round up. Only a small amount are probably radicals but they can cause a lot of problems if left to do what they are planning.

I think it would be better to send in some help to make temporary shelters in Upper Syria and make it known that neither side can attack this area or use it for recruiting. I am sure as a temporary measure Asad and Russia will allow a small no fly zone as long as someone is there to monitor that radicals are not allowed to use that area as a breeding ground for radicalism.

But what do I know about this, maybe that will never work. There should be some sort of solution to this problem instead of the stupid idea that they dreamed up.
