They have every right to get mad.
It starts here then next minute you can't display a flag outside your house.....never give an inch because it will soon be a mile.

Nah the vets are Idiots no law says the school must fly the flag. The protesters are just trying to shove their fake patriotism down others throats.

since the right-wing hold all federal institutions of power and also a vast majority of states governments, the only thing they perceive as threatening, is the "media" and "educational institutions".....both of these will be hammered to death by the right-wing in the next 4 years, both here on ATS and in the public arena....they will be labeled unpatriotic, communistic, socialistic, institutions harmful to Americans and the American way of life.........just read some history books...it's all there, if you want to find it.

We should bring back the Bellamy salute.

After all, Bellamy was the guy who wrote the Pledge of Allegiance in 1892.

This all started when the college put the flag at half-mass after Trump's election to cater to the safe space snowflakes, who then decided to steal the flag and burn it.

Amazing when one of the counter-protestors crashes their ranks and the vets proceed to protect him from campus security and his right to the first amendment.

Doubt they would get the same respect if the situation was reversed though.

Your comment is the most asinine anti Vet thing I've ever seen anyone spew from their pie hole.

Vets have something called Honor, they're not the bad guys but for some reason, it's being pushed that they somehow are in these Government run Institutions.

Thanks for adding

This stuff infuriates me. My grandfather fought in the Vietnam war. I know the negative effects it had and what he gave up to fight for AMERICA! Them taking down the american flag is a disgrace and they should be ashamed of themselves. I don't even read or watch videos about burning flags either because it's just as bad in my opinion. I'm sorry that these fine veterans have to go protest this bs in the first place.
for the veterans.
for the school and students taking/burning flags.

You're certainly not alone in your opinion and thoughts on this. The 20 somethings [not all but many] have Zero Respect for the fact that they have Freedoms they otherwise wouldn't have, and that many of these Men gave their lives for it, Families lost their Fathers and Grandfathers and Sons only to watch the New Generation blow it off as mere dust in the wind. It's disgraceful.

And how many times has Omama and Clinton used the term unamerican, unpatriotic, and patriotic.

In the context liberals claiming conservatives are dividing the country, the US flag is the symbol of we the people. Used by our Olympic Team to our members at the UN. A college goes and toses our symbol of unity? Who is purposely trampling on our institutions for the sake of division?

Then by all means migrate to a country that you can believe in, is a more perfect union, and spends relatively less on its military because it's allied with the USA.

Did you miss the fact that Hampshire College is Private ?

No where have I read that the decision to not raise the flag is related to the school's attitude toward veterans. It is being turned into a veteran issue for some cynical reason, I would suspect.

I hope no one tweets out my address, I'm not currently flying a flag. Will 1,000 veterans come protest my decision, my right?

I am a vet. I did my time in the US Air Force. I do not think they should be their trying to push their version of patriotism on others because as vets they should know better. The Flag is something that symbolizes all the good and bad we have done as a nation. If someone doesn't want to fly it because the bad we have done that is fine. But using their status as vets to protest someone else not following their self described patriotic ways is them being idiots.

Some who are not happy about the flag being taken down at Hampshire College are afraid to speak up because of fear of retaliation.

WWLP

Edited to Add: It was not clear to me until reading this latest update article it was President Lash who initially lowered the flag after the election without consulting the rest of the school. He has denied he lowered the flag as a result of the election but has not given a reason. (Ahem!) No word on who burned it. Was it him or one of his colleagues?

Another protest has been scheduled by veterans for Sunday if the flag has not been raised by then.

I'm not far from Hampshire College and I now suspect what students are being taught in that school. That's my perspective. I'm not a flag worshiper but the message being sent is very clear.

Good find - from the link you posted:

AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) – Hampshire College has been a hostile environment since its President removed the American Flag from the center of campus after the election, according to one person who is on campus almost every day. The 22News I-Team spoke to a person affiliated with the college on Wednesday night.

They did not want to be identified due to fear of retaliation. We will say that the person is either a student or member of the faculty or staff. They are among the people who never wanted the flag taken down in the first place. “We were never consulted about the removing of the flag and people assume that everyone agrees with that and it is not that case, it is a very stressful environment,” said the person speaking to 22News on the condition of anonymity.

See this is what i'd be questioning. Why are they pushing this so hard? Makes you go WTF?. Seriously, when my 6th sense gets turned on, there's no turning it off. That gut feeling inside is trying to say something, Red Flag is one word off the top of my head.

Like I have said before, Our world is like a sterogram. There is so much more going on than what we think we see. More and more people are getting that gut feeling, and more and more are seeing the picture within the picture, but it isn't until the picture pops up right in your face that you realize how willfully blind we have allowed ourselves to be.

Around here people post about things that you can't unsee. This explains the situation perfectly. The only problem is that some will go mad trying to unsee something that was always visible. We just weren't looking at it correctly.

Stereograms. A stereogram is a picture within a picture. Hidden inside each image is an object which appears in 3D when viewed correctly.

A story about the flag pole at Hampshire College and who donated it years ago.

Link

In 1965, Andrew and Stephanie, who operated a dairy farm, sold the land for the establishment of Hampshire College. Andrew worked at the physical plant as one of their first employees. When Andrew passed away in 1977, the center flagpole was dedicated in his memory by the Board of Trustees and a commemorative plaque was installed.

After further thought I have a suggestion for President Lash. Perhaps he could lash himself to that flag pole for a few days and meditate upon who or what he really serves and why he believes he has the right to impose his will upon the whole of Hampshire College when the flag is not his to manipulate or to use as his own personal display of rebellion.

If he wants to lower his own flag to half mast at his own home, or to even burn it if he feels so self-righteous, then by all means do so.
