I know what your thinking , how is Trump and Obama anything close to being similar. Far as there policy's and outlook on things go there definitely not. I'm more or less talking about on how they go about trying to sale theirself. The structure of there campaigns and how they go about making people see them as there Savior.

Lets look back at the 2008 election. The premise of Obama's campaign pretty much goes like this , everyone is in agreement the country is not how they would like it to be. Lets take it from the " Right " and swing it far " Left " and we will produce the " Change " everyone wants. He lets you take the word " Change " and use it to determine what kind of " Change " best fits you. Everyone wins long as you believe this to be the " Change " that best benefits you. It definitely helps that he is a very Charismatic and Witty speaker to go with it.

Now lets fast forward to the 2016 election. Same premise, everyone is in agreement the country is not where they want it to be. The " Left " has screwed everything up we need to swing it back to the far " Right " this will make everything better. Trumps not playing on the word " Change " but he's using the same approach. He uses a slogan that just about everyone can bend to fit them, " Make America Great Again " . 99% of Americans pretty much agree we live in " America the Great " the greatest country on earth. They also believe that our " America the Great " has kind of went downhill. Ever notice everyone always thinks they came up in the last generation that was worth a damn , and every generation after them has fell from grace. So Trump is going to " Make America Great Again " just like it was from whatever generation you come from. Trump is also very Charismatic and knows how to play on peoples emotions.

You have to love the Political Theater don't you. Same playbook , different set of hands. Maybe one day will see a President that actually cares for the people . One that can actually win the race by being straight forward and honest. One that doesn't build his whole campaign on deception and manipulation. Maybe just maybe one day will stand together side by side and refuse to take this Circus Act anymore .

Obama is black, Trump is orange. If he had green hair, he would be an Oompa Loompa. Aside from that, he is just another Crony-capitalist, Federalist, who's probably going to play the race card as Obama did. He already has the Alt-right's support to do it. I can see it now..."white lives matter"..."Aryan lives matter"...."stop provoking white cops".

"Replace Obamacare"...replace it with what? With more socialized cronyism? Maybe just change the name to TrumpCare and raise the premiums and deductibles another 75%. When the 65+ age group starts dying off because they cant pay for their drugs, he can just blame it on the immigrants who ALREADY PAY INCOME AND SALES TAXES.

Protect the second amendment with "stop and frisk"......should I have to say anymore? Is America really this retarded?????

Bring back the over seas jobs by adding tariffs...yeah, just like they did right after the Stock Market Crash in 1929. If you taxes the retailers, they increase the prices of goods/services. So the poor pick up the bill. That is who the 1929 crash became the GREAT DEPRESSION.

Trump wants to be the protector of Christianity..........Im pretty sure only the Holy Spirit can do that, and it doesn't look or sound anything like Donald Trump.

BTW S&F. Thanks for reminding us that Trump is no messiah. Seems like some ATSers have bought into the Snake Oil market.

Another suitor for the princess, eh?

Different side of the same coin. We'll see small changes- but nothing worth mentioning. Those in the inner city might have something to talk about- the rest of us can just get back to work and keep paying the establishment.

Ok I'll bite. Welcome to ATS.

The problem is...
Politics takes it extreme to far right, or to far left. There is no medium anymore. There was a time when you couldn't tell which party a politician represented. People were represented, and bills got passed. Not set asside to drag it out in 5th grade tantrums.

The Independent Canidate that cares for everyone will never the top job in the United States.

At this stage of the game, the biggest similarity I see between Obama and Trump is that the campaign promises made to induce voters to support them are now being subject to the political realities of the Beltway and there's a lot of rhetoric about "flip flopping", "reneging", "broken promises".

Trump hasn't been inaugurated and Obama hasn't checked out of the White House yet. What the new administration will be like remains to be seen and is mere conjecture at this point. And we haven't yet seen how the current administration plays its' end-game.
(Doubtful the First Family will be absconding with the white house silver like somebody else we've heard of...)

Only time will tell if the Trump Administration is anything like the Bush-Obama years in office. Boy, there was a seamless transition.
