I joined in 2012 before that election. If anyone thought I'd leave after this one they were deluded.

We knew you weren't going to leave. You been around to long.

I was heavily anti-Hillary and more or less anti- Trump from the start, became more and more negative on Hillary over time, neutral on Trump, and ultimately preferred Trump BY FAR, though still by no stretch excited at the prospect, I ended the election season truly disgusted by the prospect of Hillary.

Still, I don't really understand the point of this. Isn't the rhetoric more or less the same each election, and then one side wins, one side loses?

Obviously it's beyond Trumpsters capability of understanding. Anti-Trump isn't, wasn't and won't be pro-Hillary.

Yeah I've hated Donald Trump as a person since the middle of the 1990's when I was still a child. Then watching him on th Apprentice in the 00's really cemented that opinion. I was always of the opinion that I wanted to vote for Hillary to maintain as well as to vote against Trump then try for a better candidate in 4 years. Oh well.

Interested to hear why the hatred for Trump at a young age. The cementing of it from watching the Apprentice seems a bit odd coming from you as I consider you a well researched and educated poster here....citing watching a scripted reality show as a deciding factor for you seems a bit underneath what your usual standards tend to be.

Either way I think we were dealt a bad hand with both candidates. I know plenty that voted for Johnson as well, funny thing is that he has about as much knowledge of politics in the world as Trump....just seems on the outside to be a decent person to me.

I voted for Johnson because my state was going to Trump anyway and I hoped to see the Libertarian party get that 5%. I thought it was the best way to try to make something of my vote.

I hate to break it to you, but ATS isn't (or I'm fairly sure wasn't designed to be) a pro Donald Trump campaigning web site. If people support a different party to you and supported and voted for a different president, then whether they contribute to ATS is neither here nor there. The extremely divisive nature of some posts (see the one directly below your OP, even though like me that person isn't even eligible to vote in a US election) show how some people have tried hard to make it so.

But, taking your logic, does that mean those that threw every bit of mud at the concept of Clinton being president should now consider their work done and leave? I hope not, maybe now things will return to a more civilised level and more interesting topics will be discussed with the added benefit of actual facts not rumour, inuendo and outright lies being paraded as truth.

Would be nice to think so, what are the chances?

It's not breaking to me...been here since 2007...if you look at my post and thread history, politics is the least of my contributions.

My question was really geared more towards those that obviously signed up solely to talk about the elections here. Seems and odd place to do so since, as you said, ATS isn't a [pro Donald Trump] campaigning website. I am wondering how many will stick around and actually contribute to the real discussions here that ARE what ATS was built for...conspiracies. this political crap is really just a side show here. While it definitely involves conspiracies, the "feelings" that are displayed are out of place...wish it could be more directed at the actual conspiracy without others taking sides and really looking at evidence.

Do you live in the US? Wondering why you are ineligible to vote. Either way, the POTUS has a hand in all world affairs so it socks that others opinions are discounted based on not being in the US.

Not a Clinton supporter but I have been around off and on for a long time......

IMO she lost because she is corrupt to the core and instead of choosing a more palatable nominee the DNC was hell bent on trying to ride the same old tired horse that the American People have dealt with for 8 years (and some would say even longer considering the Bush's were the opposite end of the same coin). Trump struck a major cord with "Drain the Swamp"....people rightfully want the criminal activity, cronyism, lobbying and all the other disgusting things that have creeped into our Republic OUT.

Now I will not argue whether or not Trump will follow through as it remains to be seen, but one thing is certain. If you literally piss off everybody including everyone you see as being corrupt and wrong with the political system then that makes for a good reason to take a chance and roll the dice right there. The elitism was eventually going to be rebelled against in a major way and this time no amount of dirty tricks was able to stop it

I think what will be telling about this election is when numbers come out as to the way minorities voted. If people truly are fed up, I would think the minorities would be first in that fed up line.

I joined this forum for the Aliens... and was a long time lurker.

I just got involved in the political threads because they were here.

I feel as if I should do something to be honest. Especially if Hillary wins the popular vote. I feel like some sort of revolution... or legal override.. or something is in order. This is a travesty.

Therein lies the problem with our system....electoral votes, not the people. And they have no obligation to vote the way the people in their district want them to either.

Of course it affects all of us. But, I have no voice anymore, or people who think like me. I protested Nam and every war since, I believe a woman's body is hers and her alone, I believe doctors should never turn the sick or disabled away, I believe public education is the only hope for the poor. I and half the population will have no say or place in Trump's world. They have all the power, govs, congress, pres and supreme court. That is what will keep me coming to ATS, to see if they ever get satisfied.

Maybe we will be pleasantly surprised. We all know that no POTUS ever has kept their word on anything so it's likely this one will have to bend to the will of the country.

My point was it seems there have been as many who have joined, or who are more long term, who have engaged in a very distasteful attack on Clinton as there are on Trump - actually, probably more so IMHO, but then if the ATS main membership core is white working class (that's an if and a generalisation by the way, not a specific) then logically going by election results there were more people who were pro Trump. I wasn't referring to you in particular but your reasons for actually creating the OP which suggested that if people had joined ATS relatively recently and were more inclined to Clinton then for some reason they would now disappear. Some - not specifically suggesting you - would take that to mean the were the mysterious shills everyone keeps screaming about.

Why I'm ineligible to vote in a US election? Because I'm not American and don't live in America - this is a global site. The sheer swamping of this site by the whole election craziness, the staggering amount of vitriol thrown around at other users and the level of frankly BS by some posters has an effect on us all to respond, like moths to a flame. It's your election, anyone on the planet is entitled to an opinion, but of course ultimately, it's not our country. At least Piers Morgan is a fan of him.

I only made that point in my post as the poster below your OP is also not US based and I'm assuming also not eligible to vote in a US election couldn't resist in indulging in the pathetically childish vitriol that has seen the collective IQ of ATS drop multiple points over the last 17 months.

I am all for moving on and discussing conspiracies as long as we never return to the vitriol of tragedy of a certain school in CT that shall not be named is ever visited again.....that actually made this election hatred pale by comparison imo
