That ATS is dead, this election cycle killed it.

Is .6% really less?

Edit: actually .2%

Yes. Clinton won the popular vote by 207,638 votes...And before you say no big deal...spread those voters evenly in 3rds across PA, WI and MI and she would have swept all 3 and the electoral college.

No doubt Trump is our President and won the Electoral College if not the majority vote of Americans.

But Trump and Speaker Ryan are already saying he has a "mandate" from the people...something the GOP immediately denied Pres. Obama despite his winning both the electoral college and popular vote in both elections.

Interesting times.

Now that Trump is undoubtedly an elected "Politician" and POTUS...lets hope principled folks here on ATS hold him accountable to broken promises and miss-steps.

When Obama won in 08 and 12, there were hundreds (each time) of 'not muh president' type posts and thinly-veiled racist dog whistles ('Black House' and the pet name 'Obongo' come to mind specifically.) That got pretty bad, but after a while it evened out.

I'm not so sure that's going to happen this time, because this time the winners are the ones behaving ridiculously.

I was under the impression the mandate talk is in reference to the Republicans controlling the house, Senate, and president elect?

Hey Red - Good to see you.

I think there is some disagreement as to the specs for rebuilding, but I admire the sentiment.

I will drop by sometime down the road to see how it's coming along..

But for now...Indigo out..

Nicely said.

I have to admit, I was extremely relieved when it became obvious the the wicked witch of the South finally had a bucket of water tossed onto her political career.

I could have done without the giant oompa-loompa, oh well, perhaps we can get rid of him in four years. Or, perhaps, he'll do a fabulous job, one can hope so anyway...

I despise him almost to the same extent I despise she who no longer has a political career, but he deserves a shot, a fair one, a year or two down the road is soon enough to turn on him, so far as I'm concerned.

Celebrate his win? No. I'm going to sit down and try to figure out how I, a little no body from a small town in Washington state, can help him succeed to the benefit of the majority of people. ...and perhaps, ameliorate some of his less savory plans, in my own little way.

But, we shall see, what we shall see.

Ok, the rebuilding will go faster now.

Thank you for your gracious response.

It seems only natural that following such a fiercely campaigned election, rife with schismatic demagoguery from both sides, that there will be many who have an extremely difficult time coming to terms with the outcome and others who will find it impossible to resist baser urges for retaliation.

In our respective factions, we have become estranged from one another.

I hope that as passions subside, people will realize that in our polarized state, we the people are only weakened.

You were the worst offender on these boards, often completely making stuff up in such a hateful manner.

You can try and say "water under the bridge" all you want, but if you think people are just going to forget the 300+ Threads you spammed these boards with starting June 2015 then you are sadly mistaken.

The motto of this site is deny ignorance, and you are one of the most ignorant of all.

Less people voted for Trump. No surprise there.

Doesn't matter.

Trump carried MORE states. He won.

Clinton carried LESS states. She lost.

The exact reason the EC was created in the first place.

To keep people like CLinton out of power.

The popular vote doesn't mean what people think it means.

I figured since I've been such an active participant in the Mud Pit over these recent months, it was only fitting that I posted this here.

Well you did it. I won't say I was quite as shocked as a lot of people appear to be but I was certainly surprised. I still maintain that Donald Trump is the greater of two evils but we the people have cast our votes and now its done.

I am above all else a proud son of our great nation and I believe that it is absolutely vital to the strength of our democracy that we accept the results of our elections regardless of any personal dismay. Furthermore, for the health of our society, I believe it is incumbent upon on us all to earnestly strive for reconcilation following such a polarizing contest.

I congratulate President-elect Trump but far more than that, I congratulate you his supporters. It's been an exceedingly long, exceptionally contentious election and at its end, you've won the day.

Enjoy your victory.

All those wasteful hours posting anti Trump crap was just wasted time in a short life. Alas I guess some have nothing better to do in life.

I never intended to devote so much time to the Mud Pit or to become such a subject of controversy myself but who could have foreseen this election either?

There are things I certainly would do differently given a chance in terms of how I've interacted with other members here but make no mistake about it — I do not regret what I've said regarding Donald Trump. I'm a pragmatic though and a progressive and I realize that dwelling and continuing to wage a battle that has been decided will benefit no one.

More importantly, I'm a patriot and a humanist. I love my country and even in times like this, I am aware of a deep and abiding kinship with my countrymen and beyond that, a connection that should be felt among all people everywhere. I'm not simply out to score political points, I genuinely want what is best for everyone. My tactics might seem rancorous at times but my intentions are good, believe me.

The election is over now. It's time to start mending the fences and to give an honest effort to make it work. Every four years, there's a winner and a loser and if we continue to hold onto grudges from the last election, we'll be forever locked in a fight against ourselves.

I think we're in for a continued decline. In particular, I see the employment situation getting increasingly worse until our politicians begin to address the fundamental changes wrought by our own technological advances.

I couldn't be more happy if it turns out that I've been wrong about Trump all along but in all honesty, I must confess that I'm not optimistic and in fact, I'm extremely apprehensive. If I see my worst fears being realized, I'll not hesitate to launch into a new anti-Trump campaign and I suspect that if it comes to that, I'll be doing so to a more receptive audience. And of course, I will have learned from my own shortcomings and from the feedback of my friends.

We'll see what happens.

Hopefully for a while at least, there will be some respite here on ATS.

1. I didn't "completely make things up."
2. I didn't post 300+ anti-Trump threads.
3. I didn't start posting in earnest until July or August of this year.

But hey, facts! Don't let them get in your way.

You would do well to take the olive branch that I'm extending because I think it's in the best interest of everyone. Do not mistake it for something it is not. Be content with your candidate winning and let's move forward.
