This is pretty strange.
What kind of anomaly is this from the weather map?

It really looks intense, and out of nowhere....
Anyone got a clue?

It is a bit odd looking to me as well. Here's a closer look.

No clue. But lets speculate.
A. Nuke test
B. Aliens
C. Weather modification tests
D. Natural phenomena

That looks like White Sands Test Range.

It is strange.

Or.....

Aliens using nukes to modify weather to make it look like a natural phenomena.

That's my bet.

Yea, and there is a time loop for it as well. Started out all green then instantly, Red.
Really got my eye, as I frequently look at the US weather map. Do not recall this kind of display in anything there.

Sudden hail storm?

Maybe equipment malfunction?

I would say possibly, but it was persistent, with very slight movement, over a considerable number of frames.

Oh, or maybe a dust storm.

I used to live out there (in Lubbock) and we'd get the most impressive dust storms.

My wife freaked out the first time she saw one.

White Sands is further southwest. It's also showing up on my Raindar. I will climb up on my house to see if I see something.

Once I remembered we had huge dust storms I realized that's almost certainly it.

I'm betting on that.

They can be very thick.

If it was anything sinister we wouldn't be seeing it.. Winter be long until someone pops in and explains it with something mundane..

Nothing visible in that direction, no lightning or thunderheads.

When you see one blow in you're like "oh crap! Take cover quick!!"

Those pics are from Lubbock.

I've never seen lightning in a dust storm. It may be possible but it's gotta be very unlikely.

They hug the ground but can reach a mile high.

Wow, that is awesome. I would be freakin if I saw that.
One thing though, the news stations in Clovis are not covering anything about it, and I would imagine it would have their attention. Strange enough.

I lived in Clovis, NM (dad was AF stationed at Cannon) and saw a few dust storms where visibility past the end of the car's hood was an impossibility...so maybe that's just what it was. The dust storms were nasty and always made me think that's what it must have been like for the "dustbowl" farmers.

The friction from dust storms generates a ton of static electricity. I've seen lightning on the leading edges
