Good. I don't care how it is done, let's go medicare for all. Our veterans deserve to go to any doctor of their choice and so do all US citizens for illness or accident.

Yeah because we certainly need for our health care system to operate just as well as our K-12 education system which is also pretty much 100% socialized.

You know who actually gets an education anymore? The ones who can afford to go outside that system.

We have awesome public schools in my area.

And while you're busy patting yourself on the back over all this, you never stop to ask yourself why the method to do it wasn't to lift everyone up to a good standard but instead to break everyone down and lower them into the absolute dirt.

What "method" are you referring to?

Could it be that it's because they know that no matter how "awesome" their system is sold as, it would not be anywhere as good as what most Americans enjoyed before under their private, competitive system,

A good section of our country is already on socialized healthcare and our standards are pretty damn good.

but instead it's going to be much closer to what the VA is ... assuming it's even that efficient?

Why can't we eliminate the VA, give UHC to everyone and let the vets choose where to get care?

Actually obama care wouldn't have even got off the ground had it not been for google employees coming in and saving the website. Obama couldn't get a website to run with millions of dollars of funding because he contracted out different aspects of the website to diffrent companies.

Honestly my first thought was Obama care was a scam basically used to fund a program that was never intented to work so they could raid the money invested into it.
But google stepped in and created a working website all the bs obama said to get it passed was quickly shown wouldn't work and now its going to get so expensive nobody will be able to afford it.

It was a con job they probably raided medicare during obama care and now medicare is only going to only exist for the next 3 years. Thats when the S$!# hits the fan.

I think socialized healthcare is inevitable and what we really need to get costs under control.

Bring it on!

Because the VA is working out so well and that's just a fraction of the population..

Obamacare. Perhaps you have been missing the headlines?

Not really. It is very hard to find doctors to serve you on Medicaid and Medicare. The same is true of Obamacare which is so subsidized for many that it might as well be socialized. We've all been hearing for years about the VA and how that problem never gets fixed, and that IS what our socialized system will end up being because there will not be any competition at all. They won't have any impetus to provide anything of quality anymore. We'll take it and like it because there won't be any other choice. You know, like public schools. You'll have to hope you luck into something decent. In England, they call it the post code lottery with their NLS system where your postal code can mean the difference between a good health care district and shoddy one.

For the same reason that the VA never gets fixed even though our "other" socialized systems are, according to you, pretty good.

Oh, and let's not even get into the health care our government provides on Indian Reservations ...

So the schools in your area that still are OK justify the many, many failing ones and further justify trapping students into them because it's not legal for parents to take their kids to different ones that are better (like the ones in your area) because they don't happen to live in your area?

That's socialized education. It's all equal and free and ruins lots of kids who grow up functionally illiterate.

I think you have to ask yourself why some schools are successul and some are not, and whether those differences are related to the socialized nature of the education or to some other factor. I think you should also ask yourself what could be done to fix the schools that are broken.

Most of the failing schools are in our inner cities.

What parallel to you see between this and a potential socialized insurance system? Because I don't see any relationship at all.

My 90 year old father is on medicare. Every medical provider we've ever contacted has accepted medicare.

So, not so hard.

The VA is the wrong parallel.

The right one is medicare.

I am over it, I am done. I will not vote for a single incumbent and I will not vote for any career politician. I'm voting for change, that's it. Because at this point I don't care where change comes from. More of the same is unacceptable.

Oh, well then let's get moving on this thing. I'm ready to send all these for profit insurance conglomerates right down the toilet. The sooner the better for national healthcare as far as I'm concerned!
