A disturbing video captured an assailant sucker-punching an 85-year-old man in an Upper East Side park, marking the latest in a string of attacks on the elderly. The video, released Wednesday, shows a man clad in a puffy black jacket and a red knit cap, creep up behind the victim as he’s walking through a Carl Schulz Park promenade at E. 90th St. and East End Ave. at about 3 p.m. Tuesday. He winds his arm back, and the screen fades out before the blow connects. A moment later, the attacker, his arm outstretched and fist still balled up, walks backwards, away from the victim.

Hitting an 85 year old man, what an amazing display of manliness. Is they guy a role model or what?

Seriously, is there some medical reason a person might think this is even remotely OK? A lobotomy? Perhaps a guy who was just shot in the head, but still able to walk around?

I feel like these wonderful kids should stick with hitting men between 25 and 45, so there is a much better chance they are carrying a .45 and can put a nice pressure relief valve between their eye balls.

Hehe, I know right!

I see you've edited your OP, so on the topic of your new OP:

That's the problem with the society's growing insensitivity to violence. Some people are just gone, their minds can't even fathom the pains they cause to others.

Good thread, I hope this news at least acts like a wake up call. S+F

I carry a gun for you!

When this guy walks up on me I then proceed to make sure your grandparents are safe by removing him from the mouth breather population.

I'm a public servant in my spare time

There's no outrage because we already know who those people are. The time for internet posts and youtubes has long passed. The teams are picked and lines are drawn. Do something about it or you're not doing anything about it.

Was waiting for the coward to come in and threaten murder with a gun.

Uh, sorry but once you reach adulthood there's absolutely NO reason to throw fists around with some violent dumbass. It isn't cowardice, nor murder to defend yourself from an unprovoked assault using the most certain tools at your disposal, nor is there any reason not to flat out ensure you won't have to worry about the attacker taking additional swings at you.

I get your sentiment in general..but for some reason it would not bother me one bit if the assailant took one in the face..never to do it again, worthless sack of sh#t he is.

I'm no fan of guns. But I don't agree with that statement. A coward is someone that creeps up to an unarmed 85 y.o. and sucker-punches him. The coward isn't the one that responds to an unprovoked attack with any means necessary.

Do you expect the 85 to defend himself with his fists against the thug?
Nah. I think some lead in the face would've done the job perfectly in this case.

Who'd miss someone like that? To beat someone from behind tells us the person is a coward and their actions show a lack of empathy and a streak of sadism. We know they'll use cruelty to impress friends and they're amoral enough to post their deeds online. We know victims will have their enjoyment of life diminished and polluted.

No, I don't support summary executions and don't even support the death penalty. However individuals like this bring more harm than good to society and wouldn't be mourned if the old guy had shot him dead in the face. Maybe that's the right flavour of 'peer pressure' his asshole, sadistic friends need to stop playing the 'knockout game.'
