Royal Navy a flutter over Russian aircraft carrier on way to Mediterranean

I don't normally post in this forum... However I thought this should be posted here.

It seems that Russia's only aircraft carrier will be doing some training in the North Sea. Then after said training will be headed through the channel and over to the middle east.

The UK will be sending ships to monitor the fleets route.

This is very interesting. Seems that Putin wants a bigger force close to Syria.

Let's hope this doesn't cause any accidents.

British admirals are drawing up plans to escort an approaching Russian aircraft carrier together with seven more vessels, which will pass by the UK's shores en-route to the Mediterranean, according to reports in the British press.

Russia's only aircraft carrier, the Admiral Kuznetsov, left the port of Severomorsk at 3:00pm Moscow time (12pm GMT) on Saturday for the eastern Mediterranean. The carrier will be escorted by the battle cruiser Peter the Great, the anti-submarine vessel Severomorsk, and five other vessels of Russia's Northern fleet.

Ahhh the hypocrisy. The U.S. plopped 2 battleships near Russia casually during the summer. Everybody stayed cool.

Russia puts one ship in the Mediterranean and Brittain sh!ts a brick.

What happens next? NATO will be flexing all over Russia's border. Moreso than they already are.

All this war talk makes me angry and scared.
My second son was just born a week ago, in a time where we all wants to kill each other.
How about some peace talk soon.. world peace.. harmony.
Even talking about peace these days sounds like a cliche movie with no release date.

The Russian carrier is so stealthy you could see it 30 miles away just by the smoke belching out of its stack, must be the only naval battlegroup with it's own tug to cover breakdowns.

Still, will be nice next year to have the brand new aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth escort that piece of Soviet crap back up the North Sea.

THE USN has not had battleships for about 10 years....

Also the Admiral Kuznetsov has been to the Mediterranean 4 times before...

It's a non news day, one carrier (Russian) and some support ships are hardly setting the Royal Navy a flutter! We have the Germans, swedes, French, Norway, Dutch on one side and U.K on the other. We should show it the risk it presents by doing SFA about it.

In a flutter, I would imagine the RAF are a more potent weapon again this little journey.

We should also welcome it into any of our ports capable of taking it should they need fuel, repairs or a good run ashore but if I were the captain I'd go near Amsterdam.

We should have sent Boaty Mcboatface laden with Tea and Crumpets to greet them.
I really hope I do not die in a nuclear firestorm I have things to do.

I hope we don't plan on harassing the ships while they're in international waters.

It never ceases to amaze me how 7 billion people can be so easily led by a handful of evil people.

It was the will of the people it will be forever known as HMS Boaty McBoatface.
But I really hope some idiot doesn't do anything that can lead to poop hitting the fan...I just got a bad feeling about this.

The Kuz is still running?

Have to hand it to the Russians though, they make a beautiful ship.

And airplanes to match.

I'd bet dollars to dunuts that the Royal or US Navy has a sub or two tailing this thing since it left port.

He finished an extensive overhaul and refit not too long ago.

The P-800 Anti-ship cruise missiles he carried are gone now, replaced by more hangar space.

Wow, talk about hyperbole. The RN is going to escort them through the Channel. It's the naval equivalent of sending a group of fighters to escort a Russian aircraft flying near the UK. It's hardly got them "a flutter" over it.

The front end with is curved ramp is beautiful but its island looks like a shanty town! It appears to be flying the Union Flag of the U.K., perhaps they are planning to surrender it to us because they can't afford to scrap it themselves?

I used to play a game called Harpoon. The Kuz battlegroup was nearly impenetrable, based on what he carried both offensive and defensive. Based on the 1980s.

I can't remember the name of the cruiser. It was also terrifying.
