During the early stages the Syrian Air Force crews filmed themselves deploying barrel bombs. This was the early crude design with lit fuze. Later on they focuses on a three finned design to replace these earlier variants.

The helo used is the Mi-8/Mi-17 Hip. The large orange tank is the internal fuel tank.

Well, I can't argue with that, they are dropping ied's from a helicopter.

Are they deliberately dropping them on civilian targets, or on rebel positions and all the civilians had already fled? It's hard to tell.
