Whether Poppy Bush would really vote for Clinton or not is sort of beside the point. He announced he would do so in order to signal to Republicans (mainly of his own generation, but not exclusively) that Trump must not win in the name of his party.

If Trump wins under the GOP brand label, it will be the end of the GOP as we know it. Some might say that would be a good thing, but that's not how it looks to the grandees and grey eminences of the right. Whether or not the party could reformulate itself after a Trump presidency is neither here nor there as far as they are concerned. (And it would survive and adapt -- the Republicans freed the slaves, the Democrats were the party associated with deep southern racists as recently as 50 years ago).

Whatever else one might think about Trump, he is a threat to the Republican power structure.

This thread got me to thinking about some of the rhetoric coming from high ranking US politicians about Russia interfering in the US elections and how that is illegal . Now we have the two main parties getting caught interfering in the US election .First the Democrats and the Bernie nomination episode and now the Republicans and the Trump situation . I think that the Americans should be really pissed at this interference that is not coming from Russia but from corrupt Americans . We (the rest of the world ) are looking at you America and we see a very dirty back yard you need to clean up before looking at your neighbours and trying to scapegoat on them ....best of luck getting your POTUS

I would for once have faith in this country if they could put Rand Paul in.

a few things about politics and this election season that are consistent and amazing.

1. everyone has whole-hearted confidence in their opinion, no matter how little researched or how much contrary evidence is presented.
2. for every opinion that favors one side, there will be just as many opinions favoring the polar opposite side
3. nobody knows the whole scope and inner-workings of the USA's system of government.
4. the real problems this country and this planet are facing are not properly addressed and never will be.
- while other countries are successfully taking care of its citizens healthcare, clean energy, economy (including national debt), our politicians do not take example from this and when any of the subjects are brought up, they're gleaned over with 20-second vague blanket statements that propose no solution or realism because the ignorant citizens would rather discuss hairdos and emails.

For this theory to be true, it means they've been sitting on these tapes for the last 10+ years. If so, why didn't they release them when Jeb was running against Trump? It would've made a lot more sense then.

Because of the timing, I think it's some group that wants to bring down the entire Republican Party, not just Trump. Don't forget, early voting starts as early as tomorrow in some States. It would be too late to switch candidates in many cases.

ETA: Correction: I didn't realize that some States have already started early voting. so this makes it even better.

I could care less about Hillary or Trump, but I'd never heard of Mike Cernovich, so I did a little searching. It appears he has an audience of followers totaling about 104,000, so not much of a celebrity or even well known beyond those who read his book I suppose.

He brought attention to made-up Clinton health concerns with a post on Aug. 7 that questioned whether a secret service agent protecting Clinton was actually a doctor who traveled with her.

Why would the Bush family or anyone connected be relaying anything to him in the way of information on this? I highly doubt this is anything but click-bait.

Yes, but it's impossible for them to get him off the ballot. Early voting has started in some States, plus the deadline has now passed in a lot of States to get someone listed on the ballot. Trump's the GOP nominee. It's going to be a legal nightmare to get him off the ballot.

But Republicans are the ones who claim to be pro-"family values", not the Democrats.

People have been saying for years, "Oh, if only an outsider who really meant to change the system could get some traction and a shot at the White House".

And so if you consider the possibilities, what that would take is an extreme egomaniac with high name recognition and a track record of success in something and little to no political experience because that would taint a person as 'one of them'.

Alas, we all just 'knew' the whole deal was wired to pre select specific candidates that weren't a danger to impact the status quo. Two years ago we were sure as sure can be that Hillary and Jeb were a foregone conclusion.

Now where are we? Ever so close to a true outsider (IMO) taking it all and who freaks out? Everyone in that status quo who could see the whole stinking mess crumble and be replaced by someone (IMO) with no need to play ball or suck up to any power brokers.

Is it any shock that the GOP hierarchy would be willing to pull out all the stops to ensure that doesn't happen? All that crap and hoo hah about America and The People and all the other platitudes the elite throw down on the rest of us goes right in the dumper and they're more than willing to collude to usurp what at least a significant percentage of the electorate wants. Something completely different.

Trump doesn't need the gig. He's going to live out the remainder of his life as a billionaire, no matter what happens.

So with the top of both parties including the Koch brothers and George Soros and the media all pulling for the same outcome, who the hell is going to overcome that?

We now know what it would take: An extreme egomaniac with high name recognition and a track record of success in something and little to no political experience because that would taint a person as 'one of them'. Also a flawless background having never said or done an intemperate thing, but no religious leanings because no one wants one of those bibletard evolution haters in there denying manmade climate change and stuff.

I actually used to have a little hope. Whatever was there is pretty much extinguished. Time to just pour a drink, sit back, and watch it all burn.

We had a good run. Almost 250 years and we might actually limp to that number, anyway. A mere blip on the calendar of history, and we took ourselves out.

Possibly Assange. Rumor has it that some future Wikileaks might blow the lid on major election rigging since George W Bush. Supposedly they include collusion of all major media outlets, both parties, rigged polls, fraud, etc.

But this is 3rd hand information, so who knows if it's even remotely true.
